While at Berklee, aika discovered that singing and songwriting were her true passion and shortly after completing her degree, she released her debut album “Ai-Wo” from EMI records, which reached the top 10 Japanese radio charts, to thunderous reviews. aikaʼs highlight performances include Osaka Jo Hall (Japan) where she performed in front of more than 10,000 people, The European Jazz Festival (with Romain Collin Trio), Orchard Hall, Ayaka Hiraharaʼs Dream Night, JZ Brat (with special guests Marty Friedman from the award winning band Megadeth), Rockwood Music Hall in NY, Googieʼs Lounge/The Living Room NY and Paradise Rock Club in Boston. In December of 2009 aika co-wrote the song “Path Of Independence” for Japanese pop star Ayaka Hirahara which hit the charts at number 6, turned Gold and is now going for Platinum.
