Radha Thomas

'As I Sing' From SubContinental Records is Radha Thomas's 7th album.

For those who aren't from India, and unfamiliar with her work, she is one of India’s leading and most widely recognized figures in jazz, vocalist Radha Thomas has been creating her unique sound for many decades. Transitioning from early rock & roll and Indian classical roots to present-day jazz as well as her own original compositions, Thomas loves bebop, especially vocalese, which she writes and sings a lot.

Angelina Kolobukhova

Angelina Kolobukhova was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus. She started classical piano lessons when she was 5 years old and at 8 years old, she fell in love with singing when she met her voice teacher, Veronika Yanovskaya, who introduced Angelina to jazz music and sparked the fascination with Ella Fitzgerald’s improvisation and Ray Charles’s soulful singing. While receiving her primary education, Angelina participated in international vocal competitions and festivals in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), attending masterclasses and meeting like-minded musicians. In addition to jazz music, Angelina also became inspired by soul artists like Stevie Wonder and Jill Scott, and she released her first single, Off the Road when she was 17.

Chris Humphrey

Born: November 4, 1965

A jazz vocalist, whose primary focus is the use of the voice as an instrument, Chris is an improvisor and composer as well as an interpreter of song. He is a veteran jazz singer, having worked with Denon recording artists, THE RITZ, and vocal jazz quintet, VOCALEASE. With THE RITZ, he recorded the CD "Almost Blue", which featured his singing, composing, and arranging talents. As a soloist, he has been dubbed an "outstanding talent" (Sheila Jordan) and "a creative force" (Roberta Davis) by critics and performers who have heard his work. He has performed at Blue Note Jazz Clubs in New York, Tokyo, Jakarta, and Fukuoka, Japan

Following her acclaimed debut Black Butterfly, Toronto native Gillian Margot builds on her unique and emotive interpretations of American Standards with Power Flower, a deeply soothing homage to her influences in the Jazz, Pop, and Funk of the 70s and 80s. Margot spent two and a half years building the work; selecting seasoned titans Geoffrey Keezer, Billy Kilson, Seamus Blake, Ingrid Jensen, and Munyungo Jackson, and working the arrangements and recordings to her complete satisfaction. Included in the liner notes is the phrase ‘All vocals recorded without use of any pitch correction technology,’ which sums up the care and attention she has paid to Power Flower

Lizzie's newest release, Duo Encounters on Dot Time Records cements Thomas’ stature as one of New York’s top jazz singers.  The inventive jazz singer — gifted with an inviting voice and a swinging style —  performs with a piano, rhythm section and trumpet/sax.

The Royal Bopsters
