Musician

Vincent Stephen-Ong

Born:

Born and raised in Montréal, saxophonist, pianist, composer, and teacher Vincent Stephen-Ong's unique approach to music stems from a constant search for honesty, originality, and emotional expression within an artistic musical concept. Starting at the age of 10 by teaching himself the piano, he soon began taking formal instruction and discovered jazz and the saxophone at the age of 13. Studies continued at the McGill Conservatory and later McGill's Music Faculty Programme, studying jazz saxophone. In 2003, he studied privately with internationally-renowned jazz pianist Jason Moran. In 2005-2006, he was accepted for the "Jeunes Volontaires" grant programme for the production of a full-length debut recording
