Lorenzo Cimino

Born: September 17, 1967

Lorenzo Cimino graduated in trumpet and jazz composition. He is a teacher of musical instrument at the musical high school La Spezia Italy He is the artistic director of the La Spezia International Jazz Festival Lorenzo Cimino is a Yamaha artist and plays YTR 8310Z He has lectured at the University of Pisa, the Conservatory of Bologna, the Boccherini Lucca Institute. He studied with Pierre Tibhaud, Antoine Curè He has made numerous recordings on behalf of Rai, solo CDs and won the audition for First trumpet in the orchestra of the Festival di Fermo.

I have carried out an intense concert activity, founding and working the Ensemble Scelsi for 10 years, also performing numerous compositions in absolute first performances. Way North

Way North is a cross-border mash-up of North American artists born out of the joy of playing together. Formed in Brooklyn in 2014 by three Canadians and a New Yorker, the band features saxophonist Petr Cancura (Down Home - JUNO nominee), trumpeter Rebecca Hennessy (2018 Toronto Emerging Jazz Artist/Women’s Blues Revue bandleader), bassist Michael Herring (Peripheral Vision - JUNO nominee) and American drummer Richie Barshay (Herbie Hancock/Chick Corea/Esperanza Spalding). The quartet brings together four composers who love to explore folk and world music with a backbone in jazz improvisation

Vasileios Nalmpantis

Born: October 29, 1987

Vasilis has been performing the traditional music of Greece and the Balkans since he was 12 years old. Adding to that, he has played recorded and toured extensively with many groups and artists of many different genres, such as: Stafford James, Oghene Kologbo, Ionian Brass Ensemble, Orchestra Sonora, Mora sti Fotia(a historic Greek punk-rock band) Koza Mostra,(with whom they got the 6th place in 2013 Eurovision). In 2010 he graduated from the Jazz Dept. of the Ionian Uni and moved to Thessaloniki to pursue a musical career. In 2016, one year after he moved to Graz, Austria, he formed the Ellipsis Quintet playing concerts locally and internationally

Iwan VanHetten

Born: October 27, 1970

UK based trumpeter, keyboardist, musical director, composer / songwriter and producer Iwan VanHetten has worked with artists including Sister Sledge, Candy Dulfer, Paco Sery, The Pointer Sisters, Anthony Hamilton, Jools Holland, Jimmy Haslip, Will Kennedy, Russell Ferrante, Gary Husband and many more. He is one of a rare breed of musicians who have stellar capabilities on two or more instruments. The European jazz scene boasts a number of world class professional Big Bands, all with their own rich history and tradition. The Zurich Jazz Orchestra, founded in 1995, undoubtedly belongs to this exclusive club.

The big band recorded its fifth studio album in the winter of 2020/21, the second under the direction of Steffen Schorn, who was musical director for six years before changing to his current role as congenial composer in residence.

Morris Northcutt

MORRIS NORTHCUTT is a distinguished trumpet soloist whose unique playing style and cultural heritage (the son of a Korean immigrant) have significantly impacted the music community. Alistair Martin

24 year old Alistair Martin is a Trumpet player and Composer from London. After attending The Brit School, he studied Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music. Alistair cites Miles Davis, David Bowie and Kanye West as influences, in the way that they cross genres, take risks and have evolved as artists. Alistair’s ambitious debut album Oblivion features some of London’s most exciting young jazz musicians; Quinn Oulton, Will Barry, Dave Storey and Daisy George. The concept album has been hugely influenced by current social and political issues, such as climate change and conflict, as well as many others.

Chet Chwalik

Born: May 12, 1965

Chet is Director and playing trumpet with his sextet, the Sacramento Classic Jazz Messengers, playing some of his favorites from the Art Blakey group of the mid-60's, as well as a number of original compositions. Additionally Chet plays with drummer Mat Marucci in the Classic Jazz Organ Trio, which plays the music of Jimmy Smith and others. Chet continues to work with his music business, The Tuning Note Music Studio. In addition to having over 70 students studying piano, trumpet, baritone horn, French horn, and jazz improv, Chet continues to do audio transcription/chart creation, and piano tuning.

It would be difficult to find a musician more loyal to his muse than Wadada Leo Smith. From projects with his Golden Quartet/Quintet such as America's National Parks (TUM Records, 2016) to the more expansive ensemble effort Najwa (TUM Records, 2017), then on to the stringent focus of Solo: Reflections and Meditations on Monk (TUM Records, ...
