Thomas Walbum

Danish pianist Thomas Walbum (b. 1965) grew up listening to his fathers jazz records, including artists like Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson ao. As a teenager Thomas was playing with local groups in his hometown Hjørring. He played with his jazz trio (formed when he was 11) and different funk groups. He played percussion in Hjørring Brass Band (1# price at the Danish Championship 1983). He also held a position as a church organist for three years. After graduating from college (1985), Thomas and his best friend, went on a one-year trip around Europe in an old van that they had rebuild into a mobile home
