He began his career in hip hop, doing studio work with the likes of Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. Then in 2007, he built a 9 piece soul/funk band and toured the world with RZA aka Bobby Digital to support his debut album, First Contact. Stone Mecca's songs "The Walk" and "Oh" were featured on Spike TV's animated show, Afro Samurai, as well as the television show's soundtrack produced by RZA
