Writing from a physical as well as philosophical viewpoint, Stefon Harris has developed his suite for 12 jazz artists into an exciting adventure about life and death, and what goes on in between. by Jim Santella
January 1, 2002

This year, Bob Belden's musical arrangements have put a new spin on it; still leaving a lot of space for veteran improvisation. ...

Kenny Drew Jr. Trio with guests: Wallace Roney & Stefon Harris: Remembrance

by Glenn Astarita
June 1, 2001

It’s difficult to fathom that the wondrously adept pianist Kenny Drew Jr. (son of jazz trumpeter Kenny Drew) is a self-taught musician. And with his latest release titled Remembrance, he pays homage to three sadly departed jazz luminaries; Milt Jackson, Art Farmer and Manfredo Fest. Here, the pianist garners additional support from vibraphonist Stefon Harris and ...

Harris/Moran/Osby/Shim: New Directions

by C. Andrew Hovan
February 1, 2000

For the second time since Blue Note Records was revived in 1985, the label has gathered a resourceful group of jazz lions to present an up-to-the-minute glimpse of the hard bop legacy. And if New Directions proves to be as critical in launching jazz careers as it's precursor was, recalling that Out of the Blue introduced ...
