Pat Mallinger

Born: February 24, 1964

Pat Mallinger was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota and began playing the saxophone when he was 11. He received his Jazz Studies degree from North Texas State University on a “One O'clock Lab Band” Scholarship. He lived and performed in Los Angeles, Dallas, Boston, and Japan, before establishing Chicago as his home in 1990. He is a co-leader of Sabertooth which has been the mainstay band at the Green Mill Lounge each Saturday night since 1992. He is also heard around Chicago performing with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, Bobby Lewis Quintet, Art Hoyle Quintet, and the Pat Mallinger Quartet to name a few

Johnny Butler

Johnny Butler is a multi-genre musician, composer, and teacher. He's a member of the Brooklyn, NY music community and grew up in Seattle, WA. Butler performs nationally and internationally solo (with my saxophone and laptop), with my band Scurvy, and with numerous other groups. Currently, he plays with The Skeletons Big Band, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Sonia's Party and the Everyone's Invited Band, Ryan Snow's Pull, Indra Raj, Afuche, and Astoria based fusion group Dak Dies. I've also made recent appearances with Joe Lally of Fugazi, Scott Stein of The Ramblers, Margaret (Rhodes) Butler, and the Stumble Bums. In addition, Butler donate my time and music to Musicians On Call, a not-for-profit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in health care facilities. Johnny Butler graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a BM in Jazz Studies and Performance with an emphasis in classical composition, studying with Gary Bartz, Robin Eubanks, Billy Hart, and classical composers Randolph Coleman and Lewis Neilson and have continued my studies with Lenny Tristano disciple Connie Cruthers, Vijay Iyer, and Ableton Live sponsored electro-acoustic violinist Todd Reynolds.

Born: April 1, 1981

Lynn is a graduate from the Eastman School of Music, with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance and Music Education. Known for her versatility, Lynn performs with a wide array of musical projects that include; Antibalas, Aaron Frazer, Durand Jones & The Indications, Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, Red Baraat, Holy Hand Grenade, Soulsystem Orchestras, The Last Nites, Al Chez & The Brothers of Funk, Dawn Drake & Zapote, The Grand Victory, Extra Syrup Horns, the Blaskapelle Brass Band, and more. Chris Gale

Chris Gale is a Toronto-based saxophonist, composer, producer and educator whose driving style and rich tone can be heard on hundreds of recordings. As leader and a sideman, Gale has performed around the globe in theatres, clubs and at festivals, impressing crowds with his lyrical sensibility and soulful approach. Gale’s diverse musical career has led to performances with Randy Brecker, Jeff Healy, Arkells, Ron Sexsmith, Brandi Disterheft, Michael Kaeshammer, Colin James, Blue Rodeo, Johnny Reid, Oliver Jones, Powder Blues Band and Jarvis Church. Chris is also a long standing member of The Worst Pop Band Ever, Hector Quartet, and Gordon Mowat’s Skeleton Crew.

Assif Tsahar

Born: June 11, 1969

Assif Tsahar (born Israel, June 11, 1969) is an Israeli tenor saxophonist and bass clarinetist. He has lived in New York City since 1990. He has performed with Cecil Taylor, Butch Morris, William Parker, Mat Maneri, Hamid Drake, Peter Kowald, Susie Ibarra, Rashied Ali, Warren Smith, Wilbur Morris, Le Quan Ninh, John Tchicai, Fred Anderson, Rob Brown, Roy Campbell, Gerald Cleaver, Agusti Fernandez, Ken Vandermark, Kent Kessler, Joe Daley, Herb Robertson, Cuong Vu, Chris Jonas, Ori Kaplan, Oscar Noriega, Alex Harding, Steve Swell, Cooper-Moore, and Tom Abbs In 1999 he founded Hopscotch Records.

Jason Bitten

Jason's smooth, soulful sound touches the untapped emotions of his listeners - those looking for inspiration and jazz enthusiasts find Jason's instrumental ballads the "Calm after the Storm". A native of Birmingham, Alabama Jason started playing the saxophone at the age of 12, oblivious to the journey he was about to embark on. In 2002, Jason independently released his first CD entitled "At Midnight". He quickly became a sought after musician, accompanying and opening for Artists such as; Smokie Norful, Donnie McClurkin, Oleta Adams and Micah Stampley

Hans Ulrik

Born: September 28, 1965

Hans Ulrik is a Danish jazz saxophonist, composer and has several recordings as band leader with the like of Gary Peacock, Adam Nussbaum, Niels Lan Doky, Audun Kleive, Marilyn Mazur, John Scofield and Steve Swallow. Ulrik studied jazz saxophone at Berklee College of Music in Boston (1984–86). He continued his studies after a wisit in New York City (1986) until 1987. Since 1987 he has been the leader of various bands like Pinocchio (1987), Hans Ulrik Fusion (1988–89), Ulrik/Hess Quartet (1989–90), Hans Ulrik Group (1991–95), Wombat (1995–98), Hans Ulrik Jazz & Mambo (1998-2003) and Hans Ulrik Quartet (from 2003). In addition to various Danish jazz awards Ulrik has received the award of the European Jazz Competition in Leverkusen 1988 the prize for best soloist and 1990

Michael Blicher

An extraordinary musical experience during a “voyage of inspiration” to Bulgaria some ten years ago sowed the seeds of what has come to be the essential focal point of saxophone player Michael Blicher’s musical pursuits: universal folkloric blues music. A chance meeting with four women singing traditional Bulgarian folksongs accompanied by an elderly gentleman playing goatskin-bagpipe touched Michael Blicher in his inmost heart and suddenly made him feel a universal relationship between this Bulgarian folkmusic and folkloric music from Mississippi, Mali, New Orleans and Korea which had made a similar impression on him on previous travels and musical experiences
