Jeffrey J Allison

Born:

In 1993 I received my Master's Degree in Music. At that time and as bills piled up I decided to pursue more lucrative endeavors outside of the music field and had not played a note in nearly 30 years. Then in 2021, I saw this ad for a Yamaha YDS 150 Digital Saxophone and decided to get one and see what I could do with it after all these years.

Carly Stock

Born:

Carly Stock is a Los Angeles-born jazz saxophonist and woodwind artist known for her big tone and even bigger personality. Since she first started the saxophone, Carly fell in love with masters like Kenny Garrett and Antonio Hart, and as she honed her craft, began implementing their creativity, huge sounds, and grit into her own unique style. Carly found mentorship at the the Colburn School of Performing Arts, where saxophonist and educator Lee Secard took her under her wing. But, it wasn’t until she saw UNT’s famed One O’Clock Lab Band that she knew she wanted to pursue music full-time. In the most cliche turn of events imaginable, Carly went on to earn her BM in Jazz Studies and minor in Commercial Music from the University of North Texas, where she studied with Professor Brad Leali and played in the Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band for almost two years.

The Metropolitan Jazz Octet (MJO) is the reawakening of a group that started in the 1950’s by Chicago saxophonist and arranger Tom Hilliard.

From 1950 through mid-'80s Hilliard wrote many of the octets compositions. He worked with Chicago’s top arrangers and studio musicians expanding the library to 150-plus charts. In 1959 MJO recorded an album on the Argo label called “The Legend of Bix,” a tribute to 1920's great cornetist and composer Bix Beiderbecke.

As a professor at De Paul University School of Music, Hilliard taught three current members of MJO to whom he bequeathed his complete library, passing the torch to the next generation.

Andrew Neil Hayes

At the forefront of Bristol’s contribution to the pulsing new UK jazz scene come Run Logan Run, an alchemical fusion of surging, polyrhythmic alt-breakbeats and screaming guttural saxophone.Propelled by the kinetic ferocity of Matt Brown’s drums and guided by soul deep melodies, motifs and cries unfurled from Andrew Neil Hayes’ tenor, the music that emerges is fiercely committed, questing and risk-taking. Since forming in 2016 the duo have earned a reputation for explosive live performances, full of raw power and visceral energy.

The duo have toured the UK extensively, sharing stages with the likes of Colin Stetson, Melt Yourself Down, Shabaka Hutchings, and The Bad Plus, and have performed at many European Jazz Festivals

Musician

Bobby Faria

Born:

Raised in Newport, Rhode Island by two very musical parents, Bobby has been playing music since the age of 5 or 6 when he used to jam with his Mom and Dad in the living room. Little Bobby would strum his toy ukulele while Tony, his father, stretched out on violin or guitar and Lolly, his mother played the piano and sang. Later, for a short time while in junior high school, his parents rented a tenor sax for him to play in the school concert band. The music wasn't all that motivating to a 13 year old, but the experience of playing that horn was the beginning of a lifelong love of the sound of the tenor saxophone. However, the popular music of the late 60's and early 70's was strongly pulling him toward the electric guitar.

It was during his high school years that he realized how much he loved performing live when he started singing and playing his guitar with a few local Newport rock bands. Later, after college and a move from Newport to Boston for a career in computer software, he discovered many more opportunities to get out and perform.  So, after work, he began putting himself out there at the many jam sessions available to him in the "Big City" and he managed to achieve quite a bit of notoriety as a guitar slinger.  The jams allowed lots of people to see what he could do and it led to offers for gigs on the active Boston music scene.  He's still going strong.
