Tim Boniface

TIM BONIFACE is a jazz saxophonist and pianist. He is based in Cambridge where he works as a performer, teacher and composer. He is also an ordained priest and theologian, and is Chaplain at Girton College, University of Cambridge.
Tim has collaborated with a wide array of players on the current UK scene, including recordings with Tara Minton, Polly Gibbons and Phil Merriman amongst others, and fruitful partnerships with vocalist Irene Serra, saxophonist Tony Kofi and pianist James Pearson. As host and pianist of the Sunday Sessions at The Lab in Cambridge and regular house band member at Ashtead Jazz Club and elsewhere, he has played with an accompanied numerous jazz luminaries, including Jo Harrop, Nigel Price, Scott Hamilton, Peter Horsfall, Natalie Williams, Allison Neale, Immy Churchill, Graham Harvey, Germana La Sorsa, Noemi Nutti and others. His Cambridge Jazz Festival gigs with James Pearson, bassist Jeremy Brown and drummers Sophie Alloway and Steve Brown have been sold out weeks in advance. Along with tenor player Sam Miles he holds a jazz residency at the University Arms hotel in Cambridge, often collaborating with acclaimed American guitarist Ted Morcaldi.

Clarence Clemons

Clarence Clemons, who at the age of nine received as a Christmas present his first saxophone in lieu of a train set, was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on January 11, 1942. His early love of football nearly led to another career, but, influenced by legendary players such as King Curtis and Junior Walker, it was the sax in which Clarence found his true calling. Like other E Streeters, Clarence played with other bands around the Asbury Park, New Jersey area before meeting Bruce. The meeting, and his subsequent entry into the E Street Band, is the stuff of legend: a stormy night, the Bruce Springsteen Band at a club called Student Prince, Clarence bursting through the door that literally blew off its hinges and stating his desire to play in the band

Kent Engelhardt

Dr. Kent Engelhardt, a Youngstown native, makes his home in the city of Youngstown with his wife Dr. Beth Hargreaves. Kent graduated from Boardman High School in 1981 and continued his education at Youngstown State University. He graduated from YSU in 1986 with a Bachelor of Music degree (summa cum laude) in Performance (jazz studies/saxophone/clarinet). After graduation, Kent toured internationally with the "Tommy Dorsey Orchestra conducted by Buddy Morrow," where he was a featured soloist. While he was a member of the orchestra, Kent appeared in the PBS television special "Tommy Dorsey - Sentimental Gentleman of Swing." The special featured Mel Torme, Buddy Rich, Maureen McGovern, Jack Jones, the L.A. Voices, and the "Tommy Dorsey Orchestra."

Avi Rafael

Avi Rafael is a California based jazz saxophonist and composer. Rafael currently lives in Los Angeles CA, performing, arranging, composing, and teaching. Avi was born and raised in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Growing up in a musical family, he was exposed to music at a very early age and started playing at the age of 6. He picked up the clarinet at the age of 8 years old, and later on switched to saxophone. Rafael has studied and successfully graduated from the Jazz Institute program of Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. During his studies at Rimon, Rafael got to learn from and play with some of the best musicians in the country, all of which are considered to be milestones of the Israeli jazz scene

Jimmy Oliver
James Henry Oliver was a tenor saxophonist and bandleader based in Philadelphia. Active from the mid-1940s, his bands, including the house band at local venues, featured, among other musicians, Philly Joe Jones, Steve Davis, Red Garland, Johnny Coles, Charlie Rice, Sam Reed and Mickey Roker. He has been cited as one of several sax players who influenced John Coltrane. Turning down the temptation to work in New York, he preferred to play locally in Philadelphia, alongside local jazz stars such as Bootsie Barnes, the Heath Brothers and Philly Joe Jones as well as visiting stars Charlie Parker, Pearl Bailey and Max Roach, and, especially around 1946-47, while in residence at the Zanzibar Café, he was noted for playing "against" visitors Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb, George Auld and Charlie Ventura. On one of his very few known recordings, on September 16, 1950, Oliver sat in for John Coltrane, who was ill, and recorded with the Dizzy Gillespie sextet for Prestige
