Mafalda Minnozzi comes to the "eMPathia Jazz Duo" bringing with her a spectacular and rich solo career that in over 30 years has blossomed and evolved through an artistic adventure, both stylistic and geographic, finally leading her back to the sound that most moved her as a child in Italy via the powerful and expressive voices of Piaf, Ella Fitzgerald and Caterina Valente. Her travels began at vocal festival competitions much like they did for any aspiring vocal talent in Italy in the 1980`s where her promising voice won many contests. Her dedication and curiosity later called her to Rome where she studied Neapolitan song with maestro Gustavo Palumbo, modern dance with Marco Ierva at the IALS school and drama with noted director, author and actor Roberto Marafante at the Saverio Marconi school

Dani Gurgel

Dani Gurgel is a Brazilian singer and composer, whose precise scatting is a mix of the percussive and syncopated sounds of Brazil with the swaying curves of jazz: "A fantastic syllabary" (Badische Zeitung), and "scatted vocal adventures" (Jazzthetik).

With her feet in Brazil and her body stretching throughout the world, Dani Gurgel makes that mixture the motto of her most recent releases. Reaching out of so many boxes, genres and stereotypes, Dani navigates with her rhythmic and syllabic Brasilities through jazz, rock, pop, electronica; either in English, Portuguese or lyricless compositions, mixing her experience as a big band saxophonist and rock band bassist with her original music. Dani has presented live to full houses in Japan, USA, China, Germany, Uruguay and Brazil.

Eduardo Negrao

Born:

My passion for music started early, when I was 4 years old, I think. I remember my uncle Mario putting me on his lap and trying to show me the instruments in the orchestra: Look Du, this is a bassoon...how beautiful...now here come the French horns...notice how he repeats the theme only with the strings...look how the flute dialogs with the oboe...I didn't understand anything, but I loved music! My mother liked Chico Buarque, Elton John and Nina Simone a lot. My father liked Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi. I liked Os Saltimbancos, Pica Pau Amarelo and Toquinho and Vinicius. At the age of six I got a walkman from my father and that was really important! From this moment on I started to listen to music non-stop, not even to sleep, I slept listening to music
