Accomplished jazz artist Renee Fiallos’ new demo CD is named My Turn for good reason. The Miskito Indian vocalist and flutist is ready for her turn center stage. From the title track, “Tomorrow is My Turn,” to the last song, the outstanding recording reveals Ms. Fiallos’ versatile and passionate musicianship. She chose the songs carefully. Each one has been previously recorded only by the composers themselves, except for “Jockey Full of Bourbon” by Tom Waits. The self-taught musician grew up in Miami, which allowed her the opportunity to study and perform with other accomplished artists in the area, such as pianist Mike Gerber and the late Pete Minger, a flugel horn player.
