Ramzi Aburedwan

Ramzi Aburedwan is a musician and composer from Palestine. Aburedwan grew up in the Al Amari refugee camp (Ramallah, Palestine) and achieved notoriety when a picture of him throwing a stone at a demonstration during the first intifada became one of the defining images of the protest movement. He later studied at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. He has founded several ensembles, such as Dal’Ouna and the Palestine National Ensemble for Arabic Music, which focuses on classical arab music. He also participated in the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, a project founded by Israeli conductor Daniel Barenboim as a way to promote cultural interactions and understanding between Israeli's and Palestinians.
