Quantum Trio

Polish-Chilean trio founded in 2012 in Rotterdam. The name is not accidental, clearly resonating in the group’s compositions. Component, inseparable and equivalent elements: Michał Jan Ciesielski (saxophones), Kamil Zawiślak (piano), Luis Mora Matus (drums). The Quantum Trio was born out of friendship, youthful dreams and musical explorations. Its members met at the conservatory of Codarts Rotterdam – University for the Arts – a university where music from different parts of the world and different cultures meet. This includes the diversity and openness, as well as great lecturers, that attract students from various parts of the world

Gabriel Guerrero

Critically acclaimed pianist/composer Gabriel Guerrero comes from a new generation of contemporary musicians emerging in the Jazz scene. Addressing music for its drive, direction and roots rather than styles, Gabriel has gone from South American rhythms, Contemporary Improvisation, Avant Garde to the traditions of Be-Bop and Jazz. Gabriel exalts his music with a high understanding of its roots bringing his experience and diversity to the table. Born in Colombia and based in New York City for almost twenty years, Gabriel began his classical training at age five, giving concerts and TV appearances at age nine, Gabriel have performed in Jazz Festivals in South America, USA, Asia and is a high demand musician in the scene today

Quantum Trio, Baba Andrew Lamb & More

Read "Quantum Trio, Baba Andrew Lamb & More" reviewed by Maurice Hogue

My music GPS keeps pointing to bassist Carlos Bica for riveting music. His new release I Am the Escaped One finds him heading in a different direction than the usual guitar trio. This time he's working with German saxophonist Daniel Erdmann and turntablist DJ Illvibe. The result is captivating. Bica is now living in Germany but ...

Quantum Trio: Red Fog

Read "Red Fog" reviewed by Geno Thackara

As one would hope for an outfit on its third studio release, the Quantum Trio has established a sonic niche while refusing to settle into it. The Dutch trio's somewhat off-kilter lineup (piano/sax/drums) is still matched by compositions brainy, stimulating and off-the-wall wacky. Red Fog is somewhat less full-throttle wild than the preceding Quality Studio Live ...

Burning Ghosts, Alister Spence and More

Expat bassist Mike Parker is living in Poland now and making great music with his Trio Theory. This episode kicks off with a pair of tunes from Shiny Objects, Dark Places, his latest album. You'll also hear Burning Ghosts with their musical expression of anger and distaste for the current state of American politics. The second ...

Quantum Trio: Quality Studio Live

Read "Quality Studio Live" reviewed by Geno Thackara

Like its cover, Quality Studio Live is an interestingly skewed mix of the familiar and the distorted. It was indeed recorded in a studio (with sound quality to match), yet it benefits from the vibe of a live audience. The deliberate structures of the pieces still allow for kinetic interpretations in the moment. The musical ideas ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
