Bradford Rogers

Born: August 24, 1967

Atlanta native Bradford Rogers is a producer, engineer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the founder and owner of independent label Worldsongs, Inc., whose mission is to nurture talented undiscovered artists in a variety of genres, focusing on jazz, worldbeat, and ethnic-influenced music. Bradford is a Recording Academy Chapter Governor, and has performed with such multiplatinum artists as Michael McDonald, James Brown, Bobby Valentino, En Vogue's Dawn Robinson, Sleepy Brown and Cee-Lo. Bradford has performed as a featured artist at venues such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival, has won awards including the Future Of Jazz competition, has appeared on programs such as Fox 5's Good Day Atlanta; and his music is played regularly on jazz and college radio stations including Atlanta's flagship jazz station WCLK FM 91.9. His latest CD,Guiro!, fuses traditional African and Latin styles, postmodern jazz, and a touch of Pop/Rock and Electronica. Another recent collaboration with Algerian artist Chiheb produced the track "Comet," which is featured on the compilation United DJs and Producers of Algeria.

Gerardo Frisina

A very keen music fan, record collector and DJ, Gerardo Frisina, together with the founders of Ishtar, Luciano Cantone and Davide Rosa, sketched the guidelines of the artistic evolution in this record company. His figure is of fundamental importance for Ishtar’s history and is a point of reference that the entire Italian jazz scene cannot disregard.

His first contributions to Ishtar saw Gerardo in the role of producer. His very first project was the production of “Neos” in ‘97, conceived with Bruno Bolla and Gianni Bedori, and stemming from the desire to re-propose the works of famous artists deeply rooted in the Latin/Brazilian and jazz sound, trying to reveal the most obscure aspects of those sounds. In the same year also the series “Up” and “Metti Una Bossa A Cena” came out, becoming of cult status among the collectors of the genre: while the first set of productions has brought back to light some “forgotten” reinterpretations of artists such as The Paris Studio Group, Edda Dell’Orso and Expo 80, instead the two editions of “Metti Una Bossa A Cena” have introduced some Brazilian pieces by Italian artists of the calibre of Piero Piccioni, Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovajoli, Alessando Alessandroni, Franco Micalizzi, Romano Mussolini. This is a homage to Bossa Nova by the greatest Italian composers of from the past.

DJ Maestro

There is a doll in the Amsterdam apartment of Martijn Barkhuis: it’s a DJ Maestro Action Figure. The box proudly mentions: ‘It really DJ’s, drinks and smokes!’ “That’s slightly exaggerated,” the real-life version says with a husky voice, while putting his Davidoff cigarette in the ashtray to fill our glasses with pinot grigio. “That doll doesn’t DJ at all.” At least, not like the human version of DJ Maestro, as many, many international dance full of sweaty and cramped calves can attest to. Mantis Evar

Born: October 6, 1964

As a musician Mantis has performed live with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joey DeFrancesco. While home he acted as studio manager for TKO Recording Studios until he eventually set his focus on live sound where he has worked with Dr. Billy Taylor and Freddie Hubbard. As audio consultant for Sam Ash Music, Mantis has designed and maintained sound systems for many New York City hotspots including the Limelight, Palladium and The Tunnel as well as live systems used by Metallica and Guns 'N' Roses. After a few years at Capitol Records working with Beastie Boys, Butthole Surfers, Yoko Ono and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Mantis transferred to Blue Note Records where his list of credits grew to include Joe Chambers, Ron Carter, Joe Lovano, Pat Martino and Chucho Valdes

The Foreign Exchange

Four years after the release of their critically acclaimed debut "Connected", The Foreign Exchange returns with their sophomore set, "Leave It All Behind". Consisting of singer/songwriter Phonte and producer Nicolay, The Foreign Exchange came together via the online hip-hop community Okayplayer.com in 2002. After trading files through Instant Messenger for over a year, Nicolay (living in his native Holland at the time) and Phonte (a Raleigh, NC resident) completed their debut album before they ever met each other in person. The album, "Connected," was released in 2004 to positive reviews, and was praised by legendary DJ's such as Jazzy Jeff, King Britt, and DJ Spinna for its inventive mix of hip-hop, R&B, and electronica. "Leave It All Behind" finds The Foreign Exchange much closer in geography (Nicolay has since become a resident of Wilmington, NC), but located much further from their hip-hop origins

Steve Bellamy

Producer/recording engineer Steve Bellamy has engineered or produced more than 200 commercial albums and hundreds of concert recordings. He has worked with many US and Canadian artists including Donny McCaslin, Mike Downes, Anton Kuerti, Isabel Bayrakdarian, James Ehnes, the Gryphon Trio, Tafelmusik, Kenny Wheeler, Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Edgar Meyer, Kirk MacDonald, Ted Quinlan, Brian Dickinson, John Stetch, Kieran Overs, Chet Doxas, Jim Doxas, Dave Douglas, Steve Swallow, and Sheila Jordan. Many of his recordings have received JUNO awards and nominations. In 2009 Steve created Addo Records, a JUNO-winning label that produced more than 30 albums
