Michael Conrad

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Michael Conrad held a bachelor's degree in music performance. Both an extremely accomplished pianist and trombonist, he performed throughout the northeast with various ensembles ranging in size from small combos to large groups. Mike's performance resume included impressive stints with the Boston Opera Company as well as with several jazz ensembles including the Meadow-Larks, the Roy Scott Big Band and Synergy. A staple of the music scene in New England, Mike was a founding member of the D-Caf Jazz Quartet, and even served as a church organist along side of his wife, Carolyn, the music director who is also a retired music educator

Stefano Travaglini

Described as “a wondrously eclectic talent” in Jazz Journal (UK), Stefano Travaglini is a pianist and composer mostly interested in the fascinating world of improvisation. He has released five albums as leader: The Hungarian Songbook (2013) in which he freely improvises over ancient magyar melodies, Ellipse, solo piano (2017), recorded in Oslo at Rainbow Studio, the result of an hour-long free recording session, considered “a masterwork of improvised music” and “one of the best improvised works of 2017” (All About Jazz), The long line, Two pianos (2019), with pianist M. Coclite, produced by american label Odradek Records, Monk, Fifteen piano reflections (2020), recorded in Paris, dedicated to the music of Thelonious Monk and the latest album Book of innocence with Achille Succi (alto sax & bass clarinet).

Tomáš Sýkora

Tomáš Sýkora (*1979) is Czech composer, pianist, producer, arranger and teacher. He studied at Conservatory of Jaroslav Ježek in Prague (composition under Karel Růžička, piano under Hanka Kaštovská) and got masters degree after graduation at Music Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (composition under prof. Juraj Filas). As a composer and pianist he led his own original projects such as jazz quintet Nedaba (cd Songs About…2009), and multi genre wrgha POWU orchestra (cd Kapiloongo 2010, opoPOP 2012, Ať rosa z nebes sestoupí 2013). Frank Giebels

Giebels started his classical piano studies at the age of 15. He studied at Conservatorium Maastricht under the Hungarian pianist Hedy Schneider. After graduating, he decided to specialise in jazz piano, and completed his studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague under Rob van Kreeveld and Irv Rochlin. He subsequently travelled to the USA to perform alongside Carl Saunders, Joe La Barbera, Ray Pizzi and Dave Carpenter. Together with Criz Harris (drums) and Jacques Schols (bass), he produced the CD Science Friction. The re-release in Japan of his first ever album Science Friction sold 2000 CD copies

Kjetil Mulelid

Born:
Kjetil A. Mulelid has distinguished himself as an inventive artist, blending jazz, psalms, and rhythmic improvised music. He grew up in the small village Hurdal, Akershus, and started playing the piano in a early age. In 2010 he graduated from Jessheim high school where he had some really inspiring piano teachers: Ulrika Magdalena Lind, Morten Reppesgård and Jan Terje Augestad. Then he took one year at Høgskolen i Staffeldstgate in Oslo before he went to do a bachelor degree in jazz performance at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim (NTNU, Jazzlinja). Here he really learned to use the piano as his own language with the great teachers Erling Aksdal, Vigleik Storaas, Espen Berg and Eyolf Dale.

Michael Bloch

Michael Bloch received a lot of attention when, at the age of 16, he was already a professional jazz pianist, playing with well-known and renowned musicians. However, at that time he was becoming deeply involved with the music of John Coltrane, and he eventually decided to learn the saxophone and pursue a career as a sax player. That led him to the unusual situation of being a professional musician on two completely different instruments. Although having received some private teaching on both piano and saxophone, Bloch is mostly self-taught as a musician and has learned his craft mainly by pursuing his own goals and ambitions

Ryan Slatko

Ryan Slatko’s musical journey began with his father who played guitar and introduced him to jazz/fusion artists like Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and Weather Report; and to progressive rock greats such as Genesis, Kansas, Rush, Yes, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. Slatko took up drums at 11 years old, also taking an interest in piano at 13 and eventually switching focus entirely to the latter. Slatko earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Florida, studying under the critically acclaimed pianist Lynne Arriale.
