In 2005, after studying with great musicians from Minas Gerais and graduating from the State Conservatory of Varginha, he moved to São Paulo to immerse himself in his musical career, studying with one of the greatest jazz teachers in Brazil, pianist Wilson Curia. He was also a student of the first Advanced Hammond class (organ) in Brazil, recognized by Suzuki-Hammond International, a course taught by Emílio Mendonça. In 2008 he began working with the legendary guitarist Lanny Gordin and the band Kaoll, resulting in the album “Auto-Hipnose”, an instrumental CD with more than 5,000 copies sold

Junichiro Mataga is a Jazz Pianist, Jazz Composer, Arranger, and Educator based in New York City. He grew up in Niigata, Japan. He began playing piano when at six years old. He moved to Tokyo after graduating high school and began studying Jazz Piano in the University Jazz Club. He graduated from The University of Electro-Communications with a major in Master of Engineering and then worked as a Sound and Vibration Researcher at the Central Research Lab of NEC Corporation. In parallel, he was active in the Jazz scene in Tokyo, Japan. He performed in his leader band, the big band “Shiny Stockings”, the gospel band “7season”, and the jazz quartet “Beyond the Cinema”

Juliana Lane

Juliana is a 25-year-old singer/songwriter from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Self-taught on the piano and ukulele, she wrote her first song at age eleven. At fourteen, it was clear songwriting was her passion, and by sixteen, she released her first album, Dance in the Rain. She has competed locally, nationally, and worldwide in various competitions for voice and songwriting and won several prizes and scholarships over the years. In 2015, she co-wrote her single "Diamonds" with Jimmy Needham. Juliana has a retro jazz vibe that will take you back to the likes of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald! Her acoustic version of "Blue" hit #1 on the FAB Chart in England, where she was runner-up for Artist of the Year, right behind Connie Talbot

Quentin Walston is an active pianist, educator, and author of How to Teach Jazz & Improvisation. His book equips music educators of all backgrounds to bring jazz into classrooms and lessons. He is also the founder of This Is Jazz, a company dedicated to jazz education and appreciation. Quentin Walston performs with his jazz trio and as a solo pianist, blending memorable melodies and striking rhythms with adventurous improvisations. His album Retro Future features original works inspired by masters from Thelonious Monk to Jason Moran. Through workshops and seminars for all ages covering jazz, composition, and music history, Quentin brings passionate expertise to jazz performance and education in any setting, classroom or concert hall.

My name is Samu Csernák, I am a Hungarian musician and composer. I create original acoustic and electronic music for theatres, puppet theatres and short movies. I began my music studies at the age of nine with a private teacher, Mihály Gász, who was an accordion virtuoso. Because of his motivation I apply to study at the Music School of Mohács. There, and at Liszt Ferenc Music School Pécs, I learned classical music theory and playing the piano. Martyn Ferenc Art School (led by Mária Apagyi and Ferenc Lantos) was the next step for me to improve my composition (solo instrument, chamber orchestra) and improvisation skills while playing jazz on piano and studying folk instruments. I co-founded the nu-jazz band Singas Project, we have released three albums and made numerous appearances on foreign CD compilations

Kenny Kirkwood

Kenny Kirkwood is a Juno award-winning Canadian musician who has toured internationally in a career spanning three decades. He has worked with Gord Downie, Kim Mitchell, Jacksoul, Kevin Breit, NOJO and Paul Reddick. Kenny has also opened for James Brown, Al Green and performed for Quincy Jones. Kenny spent his childhood in Zambia, experiencing traditional Bemba and Nyanja music, language and culture, and hearing local folk and pop groups and church choirs. These experiences deeply ingrained in him the value of the communal and spiritual aspects of music, song and dance in everyday life. Over the last decade Kenny has collaborated with Indigenous people on Turtle Island and worldwide in working towards reconciliation

Russ Kaplan is a musical storyteller. A creatively restless composer and versatile keyboardist, his diverse musical obsessions have led him through the worlds of jazz, rock, and theatre music.

A recent transplant to the Twin Cities of Minnesota, Russ is continuing to explore his obsessions with world music, indie rock, and modal improvisation. His newest project is a trio with local luminaries Jeremy Ylvisaker (guitar) and Marcus Wise (tabla).

Previously, Russ resided in central Florida for a year, where he found inspiration with the abundant and fascinating wildlife. The result was the album Lake Songs, his first foray into thru-composed solo piano chamber music.

Brian Woods is an African-American pianist, vocalist, producer, songwriter, actor, and author. Brian’s musical roots are based out of the gospel church in Akron, Ohio where he has performed for most of his life, but his musical accolades expand far beyond that. Serving as a radio DJ for 88.9 “The Edge,” he began to broaden his musical tastes. In college, he also ran security for the national entertainment acts that were brought in. It was there that Brian saw his future. On a fateful evening working detail for Blessed Union of Souls, Brian saw one man playing a piano and singing and watched as it transformed the entire atmosphere

Sandy Asirvatham—known artistically as Sandhya—is a writer, musician, and producer living in Baltimore, although forever a New Yorker at heart. After earning a BA and MFA from Columbia University, she worked prolifically for several years as a freelance journalist and young adult nonfiction author, and was twice awarded with a Best Columnist honor by the Maryland Association of Professional Journalists. At 33 or so, in the midst of cascading personal crises, she got pulled back into an old childhood dream. Via obsessive study and practice, she willed herself into the role of working jazz pianist and singer
