Sunna Gunnlaugs
Born:
The Washington Post described her music as possessing “such timeless virtues as lyricism and grace... elegantly bridges soul-searching passages with uncluttered swing.” Sunna Gunnlaugs reaffirms that assesment on her latest CD, Long Pair Bond which features fellow Icelander bassist Thorgrimur Jónsson and long-time cohort Scott McLemore on drums. It’s her first trio album since her debut in 1997, and now a more mature, more experienced Gunnlaugs presents this music in an unhurried, contemplative fashion. Ironically, it is the spaces she leaves that creates a sense of urgency throughout the recording.
"Gunnlaugs proves that jazz can have a wider appeal without losing integrity."—All About Jazz

Tom Lawton
Tom Lawton grew up in Arcola, PA and attended Methacton High School (remarkable only in that I attended the same school at that time), where he was a brilliant, but chronically truant student. He displayed great promise as a classical pianist, dabbled in British Rock and Roll, and eventually fell into Jazz. He was abbetted in his early education by Philly legend Gerald Price, who gave Tom his early pointers in the art. He later began studies in Philadelphia with renowned pianist Bernard Peiffer, who had emigrated here from France. Born:
I dont't have a website yet and am only a senior in high school. But I've been playing piano since the age of three, french horn since the age of nine, and trumpet since the age of thirteen. With piano as my primary instrument, I've won many competitions and played in honorary bands. Over the past few years, I have become very interested in jazz and will be attending Duquesne University for Music Education in secondary education levels with a concentration on jazz. I play piano for my school jazz combo and a small combo outside of school, and trupet for my school band and jazz band. I am in the process of writing a big band jazz tune and will hopefully have my school jazz band play it in our last concert of this school year
