Andres Ortiz Trio
Andrés Ortiz Villalba is born in Bogotà, Colombia, in 1978. At a very young age he approaches folkloric music through learning to play the organ. He pursues his tudies on the piano, at first privately with Maestro Betancourt, later through professional studies at the Universidad El Bosque of Bogotà. In 2001 he resettles to Barcelona, Spain, in order to specialise in jazz performance at the Aula del Conservatori del Liceu, affiliated to the Berklee College of Music, Boston. He participates in various composition and improvisation workshops held by Bebo Valdés, Chick Corea and Bobby Mc Ferrin

I pursued both Music and French from an early age and have a general love of languages which relates to my keen awareness of sound. My musical studies have incorporated both classical and jazz and I currently hold an HonsBMus degree and a postgraduate diploma in French/English translation. Apart from teaching both Music and French at an international college, I am a freelance pianist, accompanist and educator. Kerry also sings with the highly respected vocal trio Juice, who won second prize at the prestigious Tampere Vocal Festival in June 2007; alto sax player Chris Williams is also part of 2009 Mercury Prize nominated group Led Bib. Tenor/soprano sax player John Martin is a successful bandleader in his own right; his band The John Martin Quartet have a new album out on the F-ire label this May

Born in Knokke-Heist in 1995, Harrison Steingueldoir grew up with music. His father played guitar and his mother started piano when he was 6 years old. Hearing the sound of the piano, made him want to play just like her. This encouraged him to go to an art school of music. He took classical piano lessons at deKunstAcademie in Knokke when he was 8 years old. After 4 years of classical training, he had the option choosing between Jazz and/or Classical pianolessons. He took both, but after 1 extra year of classical music, he stopped. Today he is doing jazz piano for 4 years now. Harrison takes jazz piano lessons with Werner Meert and theory lessons with Janos Bruneel

Michael Kanan

Michael Kanan hails from Boston, Massachusetts where he first began to play the piano at age 7. He started improvising at the keyboard early on, and by age 10 he was listening to jazz. His first instructor was pianist Harvey Diamond, a student of jazz innovator Lennie Tristano. During his years at Boston College, Michael had the opportunity to perform with several jazz greats including Tal Farlow, Lee Konitz, Al Cohn, and Alan Dawson. After graduating college and doing some freelance work around Boston, he moved to New York in 1991 to study with another Tristano student, the pianist Sal Mosca. He established himself in New York, playing and recording with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner, and Jorge Rossy, among others
