Joachim Mencel

Joachim Mencel – pianist, lyricist (hurdy-gurdy player), composer, music producer, PhD – assistant professor at the Academy of Music in Krakow, decorated with, among others Silver Cross of Merit and Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis, called the “romantic of Polish jazz pianism” He graduated from the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Music Academy in Katowice. He played, among others in the bands of Janusz Muniak (CD “Contemplation”), Andrzej Cudzich (CD “Simple Way”) and Nigel Kennedy. He regularly cooperates with the American clarinettist Brad Terrym (albums “All about spring”, “Colorado”, “Live in Fort Andross”)

Recently he was Musical Director and Arranger for Sinead O Connor for Feile 2019 and her stunning performance of “Nothing Compares 2 U” and “Rainy Night In Soho” on the Late Late Show alongside the Irish Chamber Orchestra which received over 2M views on Youtube within it’s first three days. Cian also recently produced and arranged “Homeward Bound” for the Street Lights Album which also reached number 1 in the Top 100 Irish Single Charts in 2018

Rae Ann Perez

While growing up, Rae Ann Perez, had a great love of all styles of music, but especially for jazz. She always wanted to be a performer of the greatest American art form. At an early age she was influenced by her parents records of Xaviar Cugat, Stan Getz, Walter Wanderly with Astrud Gilberto, Big Band greats and standard artists like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Then, her tastes in music expanded to various world styles and performers such as Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Anita O’Day, Randy Crawford, Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff and Chick Corea. Some of Rae Ann’s first professional accomplishments include studio recordings for Neil Diamond, performing with Barry Smith of the Platters, and Sister Rose Cornelius of Brothers Cornelius and Sister Rose

Sean Mackenzie

Born: May 5, 1967

Sean Mackenzie began playing the piano at the age of 9, by 11 he was performing his original works in competitions and by 15 had started performing professionally with jazz and rock bands. Since graduating from Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 1987 he has travelled widely composing, performing and teaching. With influences from all corners of the world, Sean’s music travels from one hemisphere to another and back again, connecting with people from around the world and exploring their voices. The beauty of Sean Mackenzie’s music is its undulating melodies, profound harmonies and creative improvisation.
Sean finds inspiration in the music of Brazil, Latin Americas, Africa, Asia and the European Gypsies

Bob Szajner

Born: September 12, 1938

THUMBNAIL BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Everyone has their own story, this is Bob Szajner's, hopefully interesting to the reader.
Born on September 12, 1938, he grew up listening to talented relatives playing various instruments. His mother taught him the basics of music and how to play piano at a very early age.
In 1948, he won first prize in the "Frankie Carle Piano Contest". This entitled him to one weeks performance at the Fox Theater in Detroit. He was one of the opening acts on the bill (a vaudeville theme) for Billie Holiday along with a comedian and an acrobatic duo. He enjoyed listening to her (Billie Holiday's) style of music and accompaniment for her.
This was the beginning of his quest for his own personal style.
Ten years later, for at least ten years, he started writing and performing "Modern Jazz" later known as "Bebop" and then later as "Hard Bop"
