Simon Pilbrow

Ken Elkinson

Born: August 28, 1972

Ken Elkinson saw his musical dreams come to fruition when he released his debut CD of original piano solos in March, 1997. Entitled Midnight Conversation, Ken’s CD finds its roots in Pennsylvania at Muhlenberg College. It was at Muhlenberg that he found many comforts and sources of inspiration; its artistically-minded, close knit community and close proximity to New York City helped shape Ken’s outlook and composition. After a short stint with a college rock band, Ken began paving the way for his solo career during his junior year. He attributes much of his initial determination and songwriting success to his college’s musical facilities

Arshak Sirunyan

Born: September 20, 1981

Born and raised in the city of Yerevan, Armenia, by the age of seven, Arshak Sirunyan’s natural musical talent had already come to the attention of Sergey Kechek, Director of the A. Spendiarov School of Music; one of the leading musical academies in Armenia. Studying under unparalleled teacher and a music mentor Arkuhi Harutyunyan, Arshak continued his study of classical piano styles for the next 10 years, performing solo concerts and going so far as to receive the third place award at the 1994 Armenian National J. S. Bach Concerto Competition. Later, he attended and graduated from Komitas State Conservatory, where he concentrated on Composition and Piano Performance under the tutelage of Stephan Rostomyan and Georgy Kasabyan

John O'Leary

John is a Mexican American jazz pianist and neuroscientist. He’s the pianist for the highly acclaimed trio La Lucha in the Tampa Bay area. John has had a winding path. He was born in the Yucatan Peninsula where he started piano lessons at age three and played classical piano until the age of 12. Once in the US, he picked up the tuba in the concert band and continued to develop his musicianship through high school. As a tuba player, he was selected to perform in the All-State Concert Band, and attained superior ratings in state level solo performances. As a pianist, he played in the Zephyrhills jazz band and went with the band to the State Band competition

Matt Bokulic

Matt has been recognized by Jazz Times magazine for his Jazz composition and he has also written articles for Bass Guitar Magazine. He is currently the Director of Education at the Players School of Music in Clearwater, FL. Matt has performance and recording credits with Gayle Moran Corea, Bobby Hebb, Reeves Gabrel, Connie Hains, Livingston Taylor, Jack Brokensha, Henry Cuesta, Celine Dion, Jeff Berlin, Rick Derringer, John Laporta, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Duncan Lamont, and Jeff Kashiwa. Versatility in all these styles with such a wide range of international artists has provided Matt with a pallet of texture for Jazz, unique and exciting for the 21st century

Emmet Cohen

Born: May 25, 1990

Multifaceted American jazz pianist and composer Emmet Cohen is in the vanguard of his generation's advancement of music and the related arts. A recognized prodigy, Cohen began Suzuki method piano instruction at age three, and his playing quickly became a mature melding of musicality, technique, and concept. Downbeat observed that his "nimble touch, measured stride and warm harmonic vocabulary indicate he's above any convoluted technical showmanship." Cohen notes that performing jazz is "about communicating the deepest levels of humanity and individuality; it's essentially about connections," both among musicians and with audiences. He leads his namesake ensemble, the "Emmet Cohen Trio," is a vibrant solo performer, and is in constant demand as a sideman. Possessing a fluid technique, an innovative tonal palette, and an extensive repertoire, Cohen plays with the command and passion of an artist fully devoted to his medium.

Marcos Silva

Multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and educator Marcos Silva performs worldwide. Nominated for a Grammy, he has toured with many world-renowned artists, including Paquito D’Rivera, Bud Shank, Dori Caymmi, and many others. He was musical director for Flora Purim and Airto Moreira for 23 years. Marcos has written arrangements for Dizzy Gillespie’s band and replaced Gil Evans as arranger-composer of Airto’s Spiritual Mass in Germany. He is sought after as a producer of CDs, including two of his own. Marcos heads the Brazilian Music Department at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley.

Carolina Calvache

Born: September 29, 1985

Colombian jazz and classical pianist Carolina Calvache, is part of the new generation of pianist and composers whose style blends South American rhythms with a contemporary New York sound. Her participation in 2011 Mary Lou Williams woman in jazz festival for outstanding artists, brought the attention of the North East audiences. Legendary pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi described her music as “Marvelous”. Carolina lives in NYC becoming part of the jazz scene. She has performed with John Benitez, Samuel Torres, Ludwig Alfonso, Ross Pederson, Armando Gola among others. She is working in her album of all original compositions that embraces Latin American flavors including her Colombian folk rhythms, Cuban, and Peruvian music as well

Ian Kane

Born: January 7, 1971

Ian Kane ...is a Pittsburgh-based jazz pianist, Tin Pan Alley composer, arranger, crooner, and founder of The Blue-hots. He began playing stride and boogie-woogie piano (“boogie-stride”) professionally in New Orleans in the summer of 1993. There he assembled an extensive repertoire of pre-war popular songs (1900-1945) which he then performed in Boston, along with his own growing book of tunes. In 2000 he moved to New York City. There he performed both general business and artistic gigs at top Manhattan spots like the Knitting Factory, The Slipper Room, The Marquee, and The Cutting Room. His other musical projects, from electronic music to chamber music, grew out of his years at Oberlin Conservatory where he was classically trained as a composer
