Shmeisani Jazz Massive
Active since:
Shmeisani Jazz Massive (SJM) is an Amman-based contemporary jazz collective featuring Azar (drums), John (bass), Omar (keys), and Archie (guitar).
The project brings together musicians shaped by decades of listening across jazz, groove, and experimental music, united through a shared commitment to collective improvisation. Their self-titled debut album was recorded during the group’s first sessions together, capturing the emergence of a musical language in real time.
Recorded in a basement studio in Shmeisani, one of Amman’s most distinctive artistic neighborhoods, the album is rooted in place, immediacy, and interaction. The result is a sound that moves between groove, atmosphere, and tension — contemporary jazz built on ensemble intuition rather than fixed structure.

She has sung Mozart and Debussy, Weill and Schubert, Gershwin and Sondheim, but she’s most at home in the sound world she creates around her own voice....some magical combination of all the music she has heard and loved throughout her life.

Jerald Daemyon
Jerald Daemyon is a groundbreaking electric violinist, producer, and keyboardist whose artistry has redefined the violin’s role in contemporary music. Born and raised in Detroit, he merges the soul of Jazz, R&B, Gospel, funk, Hip-Hop, Latin, and World music with the precision of classical training—creating a sound that is bold, emotional, and sonically adventurous. His improvisatory flair draws comparisons to great virtuosos like Paganini and Sarasate, yet his style remains distinctly modern, rooted in the rhythm and pulse of urban music.
Classically trained since the age of ten, Jerald studied with Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s former Assistant Concertmaster, Dr. Morris Hochberg and Slovak violin virtuoso Peter Michalica, building on his early instruction from Connie Miner and Angela Thomas-Lott. He later refined his craft, immersing himself in Detroit’s jazz scene, performing with saxophonist Donald Walden and trumpeter Marcus Belgrave as a member of The Detroit Jazz Orchestra.
