Craig Russo has performed as a Latin percussionist and drumset artist for twenty years in the Midwest and Northeast. In addition to his strong jazz background, Craig has a special interest in Afro-Cuban music styles. Seven-time Grammy-nominated percussionist, US Artists Fontanals Fellow, and 2013-2014 SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director, John Santos, is one of the foremost exponents of Afro-Latin music in the world today.

Born in San Francisco, California, November 1, 1955, he was raised in the Puerto Rican and Cape Verdean traditions of his family, surrounded by music. The fertile musical environment of the San Francisco Bay Area shaped his career in a unique way.

His studies of Afro-Latin music have included several trips to New York, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Brazil and Colombia. Achiri Karl Haas is a percussionist, ethnomusicologist, and teacher splitting his time between Boston, MA and his adopted home of Burlington, VT. His music is a continuous search for truth, peace, and communion, and each performance the reflection of an on-going spiritual quest for One-ness. He has performed music on three continents, playing styles ranging from jazz to pop to world, in venues as diverse as concert halls, dive bars, and African funerals.
