After a break of more than a decade, singer Liam McKahey and songwriter/instrumentalist Davey Ray Moor of London-based hitmakers Cousteau have reformed as CousteauX. The album of the same name is set for worldwide digital release by Silent X Recordings on September 15, 2017. The CD follows on Sept. 22 and the vinyl LP on Sept. 29. A gold-selling act in Europe, Cousteau is best remembered by stateside audiences for the romantic yearning of “The Last Good Day of the Year” (2001), a much-loved pop hit that saw the band touring the U.S. and performing on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn

Guido Spannocchi

Born:
Guido Spannocchi is a Vienna/Austria born London based woodwind instrumentalist specializing in Alto and Baritone saxophone. He studied Jazz Saxophone and classical flute at the Conservatoire of Vienna as well as musicology at the University of Vienna & Paris VIII. His collaborations range from straight ahead jazz to trip hop and electronic beats as well as pop and funk whilst his original projects focus on contemporary jazz, improvisations and interplay. Spannocchi's sold out debut Album "Ahead Only" was published in May 2017 and recorded as well as mixed and mastered entirely analogue on tape as well as released on a limited vinyl record featuring Jason Simpson on double bass and Marco Quarantotto on drums. Follow up album "Terms & Conditions" published in spring 2018 is influenced by Brazilian Music and feautres some works by Rashaan Roland Kirk played by Spannocchi with Matheus Nova on electric bass alternating with Mao Yamada on double bass and Cyro Zuzi on drums. Published in 2019 the double album "All The Above" features renowned saxophonists Tony Kofi on Baritone sax alternating with Jure Pukl on tenor sax with a rhythm section of Gina Schwarz on bass and Saleem Raman on drums alternating with JJ Stillwell on bass and Filippo Galli on drums.

The Comet Is Coming

The Comet Is Coming are a London-based band who incorporate elements of jazz, electronica, funk and psychedelic rock. They are signed to The Leaf Label and released their debut EP Prophecy on limited edition 12" vinyl on 13 November 2015, with the full-length album Channel The Spirits following on 1 April 2016. The band members go by the pseudonyms "King Shabaka", "Danalogue the Conquerer" and "Betamax Killer"; who are saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, synth player Dan Leavers and drummer Max Hallett respectively. The imagery associated with the band is based around outer space, science fiction and B-movies, as can be seen in the music videos for their singles "Neon Baby" and "Do the Milky Way", as well as in song titles and artwork

Meg Morley

Born:
Classically-trained from the age of two, Melbourne-born London-based musician Meg Morley was awarded Distinctions by the Australian Music Examinations Board for its Associate and Licentiate diplomas in piano before completing a Master of Music in classical performance and a Postgraduate Certificate in composition at age twenty three. During her studies she was fortunate to have performed as a soloist with the, then, Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and to have had her first ensemble composition performed by the internationally-acclaimed Darling Downs Trio. Meg studied jazz improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts while she was a pianist with the Australian Ballet before moving to London, in 2010, where she has worked with various international dance companies (Matthew Bourne, Pina Bausch, English National Ballet, Rambert Company, Alvin Ailey ADT)

Sam Rapley

Originally from Manchester and now based in London, Sam Rapley is one of the UK’s most highly regarded up and coming saxophonist, clarinetist and composers. As a leader, Sam runs his own band Fabled, which features some of London’s finest young talent playing his original compositions. In 2015, Fabled released their debut EP to critical acclaim, with critics heralding Rapley as ‘engaging storyteller’ and ‘a deeply sentimental architect’. In February 2018 they will be releasing their first full length album, ‘Short Stories’ followed by a UK tour in March / April. Initially studying with Iain Dixon in Manchester, whilst at the Royal Academy of Music, Sam studied with Stan Sulzmann, Iain Ballamy, James Allsopp, Seb Rochford and Chris Richards from LSO, and was lucky enough to perform with Dave Douglas, Dave Holland and John Hollenbeck as well as playing in masterclasses with Jerry Bergonzi and The Impossible Gentlemen

Laura Jurd
