Leonardo Cioglia

Leonardo Emanuel Martins Cioglia was born in 1971 in the city of Brasilia, Brazil, where his music studies began when he was seven years old. In 1980 he joined the Escola de Musica de Brasilia (EMB), where he was selected to participate in the children's choir that performed on the first Opera seasons of Brasilia. At 14 years of age, after a pause from his studies at the EMB, Leonardo started playing electric-bass, having performed with various rock bands of his home town. In 1987, he returned to the EMB where, for the first time, he was exposed to an acoustic-bass. Duduka Da Fonseca Quintet: Jazz Samba-Samba Jazz

Read "Jazz Samba-Samba Jazz" reviewed by Dan Bilawsky

Drummer Duduka Da Fonseca is the patron saint of Samba Jazz. Leonardo Cioglia: Contos

Read "Contos" reviewed by Chris M. Slawecki

The following words probably do Brazilian bassist, composer and bandleader Leonardo E. M. Cioglia no favors, because it lays the weighty burden of expectation upon him and his group of young musicians. Leonardo E. M. Cioglia: Contos

Read "Contos" reviewed by Glenn Astarita

These original compositions by Brazilian reared bassist, composer Leonardo E. M. Cioglia resonate with endearing themes and buoyant flows, abetted by a crack ensemble of modern day jazz heroes. All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
