John A. Graves

Born in Baltimore, bred in Los Angeles, John Allen Graves composes music for film, concert halls, classrooms and practice rooms. John completed the Masters in Music Composition program at California State University Long Beach in Spring 2022, with a Distinguished Achievement in Creative Activity Award. His recital included “Our Common Purpose,” a piece for string quintet (standard quartet plus double bass), “While the While,” a reflection on time for solo piano, as well as “An Air of Relief,” a song cycle for soprano and septet.

American Circumcision (2018), the documentary by filmmaker Brendon Marotta is John's first feature length score.
