Fernanda Cunha

Fernanda Cunha is a Brazilian jazz singer from Rio de Janeiro. She grew up with an affinity for both the music of her home country as well as jazz. She has toured Brazil, Europe, and North America, performing at prestigious international jazz festivals.

She has released 10  solo albums in Brazil with worldwide distribution.

Fernanda has been a regular performer in Canada from coast-to-coast-to-coast for many years.  

Regular appearances at jazz festivals in Canada have helped to carve out a fan base for Cunha’s post-bossa groove, and in 2019 she moved to Ontario, Canada.  

Vinny Valentino

Born: June 20, 1964

Guitarist Composer Vinny Valentino continues to redefine musical genres, to the acclaim of audiences worldwide. His international debut recording, The Distance Between Two Lines, shot straight up the charts to #2 and stayed on the national charts for more than 14 weeks-an unprecedented achievement for a first international release. Paul Anthony of Jazz Unlimited called it "one of the top five albums of 1993." Vinny's 1996 international release, Now and Again, extended his critical acclaim. George Benson refers to Vinny as a "young genius with brilliant tone and fresh ideas." Vintage Guitar Magazine writes "wonderful jazz player with killer chops, wonderful compositional skills�"(March 1997)

Fosforo Sequera

Born: October 28, 1967

Fósforo Sequera's versatility as a percussionist has allowed him to assimilate musical genres such as jazz, pop, rock, blues and world music in an original, colorful and passionate way. He was born in Valencia and started playing music during his adolescence, at that time he faced the drums with the intuition and anxiety of exploration of any good beginner, his ear was his best teacher. His curiosity expanded to other percussion instruments, being the conga, timbal, bongo, djembe and cajon the instruments that would complete his path and forge an original and sensitive style, highly influenced by musicians such as Nene Quintero, Jerry Gonzalez, Marlon Simon, Nana Vasconcelos and Steve Berrios, among others. Antti Annola (b. 1989) is a Finnish jazz singer. Annola’s voice has been praised for its warm yet rich timbre combined with his captivating endowment for story-telling. His unique scat improvisation abilities play an essential part in his will to discover new territories in the context of unwritten musical communication and the world of vocal jazz improvisation.
 

Will Holshouser

Will Holshouser was given an old accordion when he was young and impressionable and was soon bewitched by its charms. Since then, he has become one of the busiest, most versatile accordionists in the U.S. and a composer of unique, colorful music. He leads several of his own groups and performs all over the globe with leading jazz, world, pop and classical artists. Will’s music relates to multiple music traditions and draws on the deeply expressive and fun-loving aspects of his chosen instrument, incorporating melodies you can whistle, pulsating rhythms, mesmerizing hymn-like tunes, rich jazz harmonies, subtle soundscapes and exciting improvisation.

Will began playing accordion in the late 1980s when a friend gave him an old squeezebox as a surprise. At the time he was studying music in college; the accordion let him branch out to playing in bar bands, learning many kinds of folk music, and doing an eclectic range of work on the New York scene. He has since performed in over 30 countries around the world. In addition to leading his own groups and writing music, Will has played with a wide variety of artists including jazz violinist Regina Carter, modern klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer, Dutch trumpet phenomenon Eric Vloeimans, Suzanne Vega, Antony and the Johnsons, Michael Winograd, Han Bennink & Michael Moore, Lisa Gutkin, Guy Klucevsek, Uri Caine, Martha Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, Andy Statman, and many others. Three albums of his own music for trio, featuring trumpeter Ron Horton and bassist Dave Phillips, have been released by the Portuguese label Clean Feed. His group Musette Explosion, a collaboration with Matt Munisteri on guitar and Marcus Rojas on tuba, made it to Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart and was featured in an interview on NPR’s Fresh Air. He has been commissioned as a composer by the American Accordionists' Association and Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble. He has also worked on Broadway, in the studio with film composers including Elliot Goldenthal and Rachel Portman, and with classical ensembles including NYC Ballet, NYC Opera, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Ensemble Connect and more.

Karla Bauer

As founder and CEO of SHINE On! Music LLC, I have combined my two loves: creating and performing my original jazz music and giving access to high-quality art programs to youth from the underserved communities where I volunteer weekly and in the rural communities where I grew up. I travel to these targeted areas to bring the SHINE On! Music Workshop and Community Outreach Concert program to their communities.

SHINE On! Music Workshop - The students are taught how to develop their careers in the arts. But unlike any other art program, the primary goal of the workshop is to teach youth how to promote themselves successfully and 'safely' in a digital world and how to protect themselves from opportunists in the industry.

Adrian Vedady

Adrian Vedady is one of Montreal’s finest jazz bassists. Since 1998 he has been performing, recording and touring nationally and internationally. He is known for his beautiful sound, his creativity, his ability to connect with a broad array of musicians and his soulfulness.

He performs regularly with such great Montreal musicians as Christine Jensen, Kate Wyatt, Sienna Dahlen, Al McLean, Lex French, Steve Amirault, and Yannick Rieu. He has performed with Canadian jazz greats Lorne Lofsky, Kirk MacDonald, Wray Downes, Phil Dwyer, Brad Turner, Florian Hoefner, Kevin Turcotte, and Roddy Ellias.  Vedady has worked with international artists such as Marc Copland, Dan Weiss, Peter Bernstein, Ingrid Jensen, Jean-Michel Pilc, Sheila Jordan, Chet Doxas, David Liebman, Gary Versace, Ariel Pocock, Ravi Coltrane and George Colligan.

Haavisto

Born: March 17, 1981

Jukka Haavisto is a new generation bassvirtuoso from Finland. He is a studio- and live musician who currently plays and performs with his newly established focusing on the upcoming release of his debut album and with many different directors, artists, and line-ups such as Jukka Haavisto, Bossapoika, Beat, Bass & Bone, Heiskanen Bayatz Baharat, VENHA sekä Helsinki Headnod Convention. 

Haavisto studied at University of Stavanger, Institute of Music and Dance, and graduated as Master of Music Performance & jazz improvisation in 2016. Nowadays he is known for his fretless bass, jazz fusion, and world music fusion compositions, and skillful improvisations.

Mami Matsuura

Born in Japan, Mami Matsuura is a versatile pianist in the NYC area. She is a sought-after performer on various projects in many different styles of music. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in December 2019.

 Mami was selected as a member of the Piano Department Concert and was awarded the Jazz Performance Award while at Berklee. Mami is currently working as Keyboard 1 for CATS North American Tour. She is going to release her first original song in October.
