Mike Holober

Born:
Described by Downbeat Magazine as “one of the finest modern composer/arrangers of our time” Mike Holober was awarded the 2022 American Academy of Arts and Letters Andrew Imbrie Award in Music. His recent big band recording, "Mike Holober & The Gotham Jazz Orchestra: Hiding Out" (ZOHO Music, 2019) was nominated for a 2020 GRAMMY® Award (Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album), and features two of his extended works for jazz orchestra.
Trained as a classical pianist and conductor, Mike began his apprenticeship as a jazz pianist and composer after moving to New York City in 1986. He has released six recordings as a leader, and can be heard on over 70 recordings as a sideman. His projects include The Mike Holober Quintet, Balancing Act (a jazz octet with voice), The Gotham Jazz Orchestra, and most recently The Marvin Stamm/Mike Holober Quartet.

James Edward Hill

James Hill is an award-winning Toronto-based pianist and composer. He is a member of multiple bands, most notably BADBADNOTGOOD and Autobahn Trio. As a co-leader he has released three albums with his band Autobahn Trio, and is currently working on a studio album with BADBADNOTGOOD. Further, Hill is near completing a solo piano project under his pseudonym Projectwhatever, which he intends to release in 2020. Sabin Todorov

Born:
Sabin Todorov was born in Bulgaria in 1966, and is a graduate of the Sofia conservatory, where he took music theory and harmony. He then studied further at the Brussels conservatory with Nathalie Loriers, Diederik Wissels and Arnould Massart. A talented composer and arranger, he appears in Belgium for several years, his trio OUSTRO OUKO and Lionel Beuvens. His music integrates musical influences from his home country, Bulgaria. For more than 3 years too, he is regular pianist of the Singers Nights at the Music Village in Brussels, bringing to the singers, not only his talent, but also his fantastic capability to listen, his calm and his exceptional kindness. He appeared in duo with singers such as Geneviève Fraselle, Marianna Tootsie, etc... He was the accompanyist for the Brussels International Young Jazz Singers Competition, organized by the Music Village.

Kerry Politzer

Born:
Kerry Politzer is a Portland-based jazz pianist, composer, and educator. She is on the music faculty of Portland State University and previously taught at the University of Portland and the University of Manitoba. Kerry received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano from the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied improvisation and composition with the late jazz guru Charlie Banacos, and a Master of Music in Jazz in Studies from Rowan University.
Prior to moving to Portland, Kerry lived in New York for many years, where she studied Brazilian music and performed original compositions at clubs including Smalls. She also toured with DIVA No Man’s Band, playing with Diane Schuur, Slide Hampton, and Larry Coryell. In 1996, Kerry was one of six finalists in the American Pianists Association’s 3rd Biennial Jazz Piano Competition. Her composition Rhodes Rage won Third Prize, Jazz Category in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition.

Manuel Rocheman

Manuel Rocheman comes from a family of musicians. On his mother’s side, his grandmother is a piano teacher, his grandfather a flautist, his mother Danièle Alpers plays cello and viola and his aunt the violin. His father, Lionel Rocheman (guitarist and actor), created the “Hootenanny” at the American Center in Paris, where performers came from around the world. As a 10 year old his brother gave him a wonderful record of Oscar Peterson playing solo (it was ‘Tracks’); Manuel already had his own track-record of four years of piano.
