Doug Munro

Doug Munro is a critically acclaimed New York-based jazz guitarist. Since 1986 he has released 20 albums as a leader and has appeared on over 100 recordings as a sideman, producer, and arranger, working with artists like Dr. John, Michael Brecker, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. He has over 75 published compositions and over 300 recorded arrangements to his credit.

In the recording field, Doug has received two Grammy nominations and two NAIRD awards.His 2011 release, A Very Gypsy Christmas was a top 5 pick by the Wall Street Journal. Amazon.com picked Boogaloo to Beck, which he arranged, co-produced, and on which he played, as a Top Ten Jazz CD of 2003. Doug also did orchestration on the Oscar-winning documentary film When We Were Kings. His last CD released in 2017, The Harry Warren Songbook, received rave reviews and still enjoys strong airplay.

Rex Shepherd

Guitarist and composer Rex Shepherd has been writing and performing music for more than 30 years. Initially a rock and blues player, Shepherd became entranced by the playing of guitarist Jim Hall on the first listen. He began learning the jazz language on guitar, studying at the University of Akron in Ohio, growing toward becoming a known performer and composer in the Cleveland area. His musical journey began with an affinity for the more "outside" music of Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, Sam Rivers, and Anthony Braxton. His current style, which is grown from the jazz tradition, employs a liberal application of melody and suggestive harmonies enabling free expression of musical ideas in a context he refers to as conceptual improvisation

The main focus of his artwork is on composing new original music and bringing it to the world. Leonid Morozov is a 5th generation musician from Kursk, Russia. He started out by playing harmonica on the streets of Moscow at the age of 9 to earn lunch money. Later Leonid picked up the guitar after hearing blues masters like Mississippi Fred McDowell, B.B. King and others. and fell in love with with jazz after hearing Lester Young. First portion of Leonid’s career was spent in Russia where he often played with his first mentor and biggest influence - his grandad pianist Leonid Vintskevich. Durham based multi-instrumentalist and multidisciplinary artist, Harvey Bryant, takes a multifaceted approach to things. In his 40+ years of playing music Harvey has enjoyed moving between genres, but always has been most attracted to the improvisation of Jazz. His playing style still incorporates some of those other styles. You can hear the influence of Spanish Classical Guitar that he studied in the 80’s and 90’s, as well as the rock, pop, funk (and sometimes even country) that he played in local bands through the 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s. Harvey’s main instrument is guitar, but he also plays bass as well as some percussion and keyboards

James Brown (Guitarist, Composer, Educator) is one of Canada’s most talented and versatile musicians. He has preformed and recorded with many leading artists and ensembles and has recorded three critically acclaimed CD’s of original music. His 2009 recording, “Sevendaze” features Don Thompson, Quinsin Nachoff, Jim Vivian, and Anthony Michelli. Other recordings have featured Andrew Downing, Ernie Tollar, John Obercian and Christopher Lee.
