A unique take on American and European Music

The No-Mads are guitarist Ned Boynton, organist / accordionist / pianist Robert Kennedy, and often their musical guests. In 2015, Robert got the call to play organ on one of Ned’s gigs, and the two quickly discovered a shared taste for TV themes, rock anthems, hot-club tunes, Italian folk music, popular music of Europe and the Americas, novelty songs, and jazz standards.

For several years Ned and Robert freelanced on guitar and organ in each other’s groups and occasionally crossed paths as hired guns in other bands. Adding to his focus on piano and organ performance, Robert got serious about accordion in 2018, joining the nascent Mission Hot Club, where Ned occasionally subbed on guitar. An accordion / guitar collaboration was natural for Ned thanks to his long history with accordionists in Los Pinkys, Surfer Roma, and The Caffè Trieste Family Band, so the composite sound of accordion and guitar easily became the foundation of The No-Mads. Jo Abbott

Jo Abbott, pianist and accordionist  has over 30 yrs working in the music industry as a bandleader/musician, theatre musician/performer, accompanist  and contributor to film and tv. Jo is passionate about performing French and jazz music. Jo has performed and toured at many festivals and events with with Tilly Bebe ( OzManouche Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival), Ultrafox ( Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival), Django Rhythm ( Stonnington Jazz Festival, Murphy St Jazz Festival), Gatsby’s Vintage Jazz, recorded music for Miss Fischer’s ‘Crypt of Tears feature film, With Gatsby’s Vintage Jazz Band who also appeared in the film) and performed on ‘ Spicks and Specks’ on ABC television. Jo is bandleader/arranger/musician for French /Jazz/Fusion band Sanfona, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Vojta Drnek

Born: June 6, 1996

Unique Czech jazz accordionist Vojta Drnek belongs to the group of musicians who are constantly stretching the boundaries of what is expected of their instrument. Jiří V. Matýsek from Musicserver.cz described him as someone who “is able to move smoothly from role to role: from a soloist through a partner in a dialogue to a humble side-man. In all cases, he colors the music in specific shades and harmonic intersections.” He communicates with other musicians and audiences what he terms “simple, but powerful truths about life”. Leader of the critically acclaimed chamber jazz trio Treetop, he is an artist who inspires performers of all ages to change the perception of the accordion and to bring its unexplored sounds to the world of modern music. 

Anatole Muster

Born: December 4, 2001

At only 22 years of age, Swiss London-Based producer and accordion phenomenon Anatole Muster has already gained critical praise from both musicians and fans alike. His unique approach to modern jazz got featured by Jamie Cullum on his BBC 2 radio show and made him collaborate with genre-bending heavyweights just as Tennyson, Kiefer or Louis Cole. Anatole's music has propelled him to perform worldwide, including shows at Montreux Jazz Autumn of Music, Rio Montreux Jazz Festival, M4Music Switzerland and two sold-out performances at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, to name a few.

Renzo Ruggieri

Born: February 7, 1965

Accordionist, composer, teacher, graduated in jazz piano at CPM in Milan with M° Franco D'Andrea. He specializes with Frank Marocco, Adriano Mazzoletti, Richard Galliano, Ennio Morricone (Film Music) and Mario Raja (Arrangement and Composition for Jazz Big Band). He has played over 2000 concerts all over the world: Russia, USA, China, South America and almost all of Europe. He has performed in prestigious stages such as the Verona Arena, Moscow Gnessin Hall, Rome Opera House, Rostov State Musical Theater. He has participated in over one hundred productions including CDs, DVDs, compositions, didactic texts and theatrical works
