Jose Luis Castro

I am a musician, producer, sound designer and composer for video games, film and television. I was born in Mexico City. At an early age I learned to play  guitar on my own and a couple of years later I started taking music theory and performance classes with the maestro Roberto Méndez.

In 2012 I continued my theoretical and practical studies in Pasadena, California where I was a student of virtuoso guitarist Uros Raskovski and legendary vocalist Oren Waters, who has sung on records such as Muse's The 2nd Law and Michael Jackson's Thriller.

In 2013 I continued my studies at Berklee College of Music in the city of Boston. Focusing on arrangement, composition, production and sound design.

Javier Rosario

Guitar virtuoso, composer, bandleader, educator and recording artist, Javier Rosario is the first ever Michel Camilo Scholarship winner. The scholarship was an initiative of the Dominican born, Grammy, Latin Grammy and Emmy Award winning pianist. It has been the first scholarship of its kind in the history of the Dominican Republic, where Javier was born in Santo Domingo. In 2006, Javier attended Berklee College of Music with full scholarship, graduating with the highest ratings ever given to a guitarist. In 2009, he performed at the Berklee Jazz and Blues Guitar Night: a concert which only featured the very top players of the entire school. In 2010, Javier decided to further his studies at the Longy School of Music of Bard College with a master’s degree. There he was awarded a Presidential Scholarship and was acknowledged by his guitar teachers as possibly the highest-level guitarist ever to enter the jazz program.

Ethan Margolis

Born:

World-traversed and genre-fluid guitarist Ethan Margolis, aka “Emaginario,” is a prime example of an artist who has become greater than the sum of his many parts and pathways. Through the eclectic filter of his musical passions, studies and influences, Margolis has evolved into a creative and worldly artist, whose deep connections with flamenco, jazz, aspects of pop, blues and even punk coalesce into a unique musical voice.

Elements of that Margolis style can be heard coming to fruition on his latest album, Trio Emaginario, in trio form with jazz masters Larry Grenadier and drummer Eric Harland. Illustrating the diverse reach of his musical impulses, Margolis also ventured into his debut “world jazz” album, Soleángeles, in 2014, during a period of live activity in such celebrated Los Angeles Blue Whale and the Baked Potato. From another hybridized corner of his musical mind comes the 2015 album Sonikete Blues. Recorded both in Spain and the USA, the project proposes an inventive merging of flamenco and blues—idioms with more emotional and fringe socio-cultural connections than might be expected.

Hans Tammen

Born:

Hans Tammen is a Brooklyn-based guitarist whose rapid-fire juxtapositions of radically contrastive and fascinating sounds capture the energy and abstract musicality that his original influences, Sonny Sharrock and Pete Cosey, brought to music. Signal To Noise called his works "...a killer tour de force of post-everything guitar damage", his playing has been described as “transforming a sequence of instrumental gestures into a wide territory of semi-hostile discontinuity; percussive, droning, intricately colorful, or simply blowing your socks off”, with his "...fingers stuck in a high voltage outlet" (Touching Extremes).
