Bethany Cosentino
Born:
Best Coast is an American indie pop trio based in Los Angeles, California. The band is recognizable for their fuzzy, low-fidelity sound in the vein of surf rock formed by songwriter and frontwoman Bethany Cosentino, formerly of Pocahaunted, and multi-instrumentalist Bobb Bruno. The band's first two drummers were Jennifer Clavin (of Mika Miko and Cold Cave) and then Adam Garcia. Ali Koehler had performed as the band's live drummer, before she officially joined in July 2010 after leaving the Vivian Girls. The band released several 7" singles and EPs, including Make You Mine and Black Iris, and they released a music video for their single "When I'm With You." Best Coast's single "Boyfriend" was named by Pitchfork Media as a "best new track." Their first full-length album, Crazy for You, was released in July 2010 on the Mexican Summer record label

Magnolia

Imagine if a soundtrack came before the film. If the music was already there, and the pictures were woven between the notes. This is Magnolia. Spontaneously formed in 2009 by long time friends, an afternoon of Lanois-inspired playing turned into the making of a record. Collectively their resume includes The Bamboos, The Cat Empire, Paul Grabowsky, Missy Higgins, the Melbourne Symphony, The Raah Project, Washington, and many more.

There was lots of classical music in my house. My father liked march music. There was a piano at home. I studied trumpet at ten, but nothing came of it. Philip Rasmussen
Born:
Born in 1990, PJ Rasmussen entered a world where jazz seemed reserved more for intellectuals than real people. Picking up the guitar at age 10, he spent more time learning Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton than working his way through the Real Book. While his passion for rock and blues never waned, his eclectic taste and exploratory spirit never stopped looking for new music to learn; soon enough he was practicing Joe Pass and Yardbird alongside Slowhand. He has never looked back, studying Jazz Performance at William Patterson University as well as with performers such as Bucky Pizzarelli, Paul Meyers, and Gene Bertoncini. These experiences have recently resulted in his Avionics EP, recorded with the PJ Rasmussen Quartet

Domina Catrina Lee

The music of Domina Catrina Lee combines through composition practice with improvisation and creative innovation. Eschewing simple genre classification, this music is rooted in music's deepest past and aspires to being timeless, fashionless, trend-bucking, holistic, personal, and global. She rejects all labels as being contrived and political. Singapore born and self-tutored in composition, Domina Catrina Lee, has studied jazz guitar briefly far back in ther personal past, and still considers it a primary instrument (and stylistic influence), of sorts, but she feels she is called to composition. She presently freely experiments in virtual instrumentation exclusively, due to social, economic, and musical constraints
