Bombastic Meatbeats Featuring Chad Smith
Remember the good old days, when jazz-fusion wasn't all about showing off your chops, and was more about creating sweeping moods, and the importance of songwriting? Well, the Bombastic Meatbats certainly remember those days. Having obviously studied the classic early-to-mid '70s recordings of such fusion greats as Return to Forever and Jeff Beck, the group (which includes such members as Grammy winning Red Hot Chili Peppers/Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith, guitarist Jeff Kollman, keyboardist Ed Roth, and bassist Kevin Chown), is back with their sophomore full-length album. Aptly titled, "More Meat," the album is jam-packed follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Meet the Meatbats," and once more, is released by Warrior Records via Universal Music Group Distribution

Keith Carlock's achievements prove that talent, skill, and determination is no respecter of locales." Alan Jones
Born:
Born in Longview, Washington in 1962. Alan was raised in Portland, Oregon where at the age of 6 he began playing the drums and guitar. In the fertile artistic climate of 1970's Portland he spent his early years listening outside of jazz club windows to such musical greats as Jim Pepper, Mel Brown, and Count Dutch. In fact, it was the organist from Amsterdam, Count Dutch, who after hearing the 16 year old at a jam session hired Alan to work with him on the road. It was a collaboration that was his first training ground and lasted until Dutch's untimely death three years later. Moving to Boston in 1980 he graduated from Berklee College of Music and spent 2 summers at the Banff Center for the Fine Arts in Canada. New York City in 1984 when Alan arrived was, as always, a busy and exciting city for a young jazz musician

Todd Bishop
Born:
Todd Bishop (b. 1967) has been performing and teaching professionally in Portland, OR, the west, and internationally since 1985. He has led jazz, avant-garde and indie rock groups and produced five CDs of original music for Seattle's Origin Records and for independent release. With his multi-layered, organic style, he is a compelling musician, and has thrilled audiences with visceral performances owing as much to the influence of Keith Moon or Olatunji as to the jazz masters. He released two CDs with the jazz power trio Flatland. The Satellite is a largely groove-based album with early Bishop arrangements of two Don Cherry tunes, and produced by Tony Lash (Elliot Smith, Dandy Warhols)
