Nick Thabit
Born:
Nick Thabit has studied drums with Dennis Cristallo, Gary Sykes, Andrew Cyrille, and David Lee. From his late teens he performed and toured with rock bands, always however moving towards more instrumental, improvisatory music. He was a student at the University of New Orleans with a major in Jazz Drum Performance during the tenure of Ellis Marsalis and performed at the Sandbar club and the campus mainstage. He has since played in fusion band The Shrimps in New Orleans, Texas blues band The Thing (performing mostly in France), and gigged with the eclectic Pick-up AllStars in NYC, improvisor Doug Lesser, jazz bands the Avi Pavlovich Trio and the Axis Quartet, both in NYC. Interdisciplinary situations are a particular interest: in 2003 he took part in Bicycle Music with Adam Fisher, Sabir Mateen, Grant Smith, Jane Wang, and Stefan Zenuik (which included the use of bicycle-based sculptures as musical instruments) at FiveMyles gallery in Brooklyn, NY

Oriol Roca
Born:
Oriol didn’t always know he wanted to be a musician, let alone a percussion player. There was always music at home, though. He remembers listening to classical music recordings with his grandfather at a very early age and playing Beatles tunes on a beat up guitar along with his father and brother when he was in primary school. Drums came later. So did improvised music. He learned the drumming rudiments through a friend, then found himself studying with committed and experienced teachers such as his mentor, German drummer Jo Krause, who encouraged him to move to The Netherlands to study at The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague

Michael Chance
I have recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with a 1st class degree in Popular Music, Media and Communication Studies. My specialist area of study was avant-garde film-maker Peter Greenaway. I am currently looking for opportunities within the fields of illustration, design, photography and film-making. My passions lie in art and music, so whether I'm creating it, looking at it, listening to it, writing about it, visiting it, talking about it or thinking about it, I'm happy. My ambition is to be in a position where I can synthesise my broad range of interests to create work that is aesthetically satisying (not necessarily pleasing) and intellectually stimulating; work which challenges the status quo in a meaningful way, without disappearing up its own arse. As well as working in visual arts, I play drums in experimental two-piece Polka Tulkk.
