Clyde 'Lightning' George is the pan king of straight ahead jazz. He grew up in the same place, Laventille, and same time as the steelpan. His high caliber of musicianship, his vast repertoire and his natural rhythm solidify his passion for jazz with a Caribbean flare. Lightning moved to Chicago in 1978 following his marriage to a lovely lady from Wilmette, Illinois. He joined in jazz jams around the city. He amazed both musicians and audiences with his execution of the steelpan in a jazz setting. From Chicago jazz jams emerged his quartet, STEELIN JAZZ. Victor Provost

Victor Provost is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading voices on the unique, and often misunderstood, steel pan (or steel drum). Through appearances at concert halls, clubs, and stages throughout the world, he has been meticulously developing a reputation as a “dazzling” soloist, crafting an improvisational voice and style to be reckoned with. With a strong foundation in Bebop, a contemporary sensibility, and deep roots in Caribbean music, he works in countless genres and musical styles. The Washington D.C. London born Vine has been playing pan since 1985. He started his career with conventional steel bands such as Ebony steel band, Metronomes and Glissandos in the UK , and Phase 2 Pan groove in Trinidad. In 1991 he decided to cross over as a soloist and venture into a new band format and other forms of music. In 1993 he got the opportunity to play at Jazzance in Trinidad where he performed as a soloist alongside "Pan Legends" Len Boogsie Sharpe and Robert Greenidge. Phil Hawkins

Phil Hawkins is a master percussionist, an accomplished jazz drummer and one of the leading innovators of music for the steelpan. As a percussionist and drummer he has traveled throughout the United States, the Caribbean and South America to perform concerts, teach clinics and study percussion. Originally from Topeka, Kansas, Phil completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music at Wichita State University where he remained as adjunct faculty, directing the Steelband and Latin Jazz Ensembles. In 1998, Phil moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he quickly gained a reputation as a versatile drummer with groups such as Three Tenors No Opera (Sea Breeze Records), Pete Escovedo, Joe Craven, the Resident Aliens, Ray Obiedo, Sam Bevan and Irish music master Ron Kavana (Proper Records, UK)
