Nato a Milano il 27/2/1959 a 14 anni il primo gruppo "Inferno Canto primo " principalmente basato su rock progressive e jazz rock in compagnia di Roberto Muru, Rosario Santagata e il compianto Paolo Davola. In quel particolare periodo (1975) rimasi molto affascinato da Giulio Capiozzo degli "Area" imitandone l'impostazione (per quello che mi era possibile) e mi appassionai allo studio dei ritmi pluricomposti per poi scoprire e andare a ricercare tutti i grandi batteristi del Jazz e della Fusion. Grazie all'amico Mauro Garavello ho cominciato a studiare al "Capolinea" con il maestro Enrico Lucchini leggenda nel campo della didattica musicale Jazz nazionale

After moving to the USA, I began working small ensembles combining the steel drum with conventional instruments. Playing gigs around the NY/NJ area festivals, and restaurants and private parties. My CD "A Touch of Latin" was recorded in NY with: Larry Maltz on Guitar, Dave Rimelis on Violin, Mario Rodriguez on Bass and Norman Headman on percussion and yours truly on Soprano Steel Drum. I also have a background in fine arts;sculpture and painting, and my work in represented in several museums, public and private collections internationally. Ron Reid

Ron Reid is a steel drummer, bassist and Associate Professor of Contemporary Writing and Production at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches arranging, music history, ensemble and steelpan performance. He began his professional career in 1978 as a bassist for the late Lord Kitchener’s Calypso Revue in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and has recorded and performed with a cavalcade of major calypso and soca artists including the Mighty Shadow, Sparrow, Superior, Relator, David Rudder, Ella Andall and Andre Tanker. Ron has recorded with Boston-based groups Myanna and Sonabo, and gifted saxophonist Grace Kelly, among many others
