Danny Jonokuchi is an award-winning jazz artist and has been called “a sound of this era” (Nextbop). As a New York City-based jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, producer, vocalist, and educator, few artists are as diversely involved in their craft. You can hear his original compositions and “world-class arrangements” (Broadway World) in renowned jazz clubs, listen to albums he has arranged and produced, and hear him perform on Broadway stages. Count Basie: Late Night Basie
by Jack Bowers
Late Night Basie: great idea. Three tracks by the Basie Orchestra and four by other assorted groups: not-so-great idea. Enlisting Jazzmeia Horn to scat on the Basie classic One O'Clock Jump": rather pointless. Compressing seven numbers (eight, actually) into a meager twenty-four--or perhaps more like twenty-eight--minutes (including a bonus" track): head-scratching. Mind you, the other ensembles ...

Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra: The Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra
by Jack Bowers
The Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra, co-led by pianist/composer Steven Feifke and trumpeter par excellence Bijon Watson, is a seventeen-member ensemble comprising seasoned players paired with young lions who are poised to capture pride of place. Nowhere do the leaders say who is in which group, and it would be impolitic to name them here. Suffice to ...
