Read "Clockhead Goes to Camp" reviewed by C. Michael Bailey

Colleague Sammy Stein said of Clockhead Goes to Camp: “Clockhead Goes to Camp is an album which is easy to listen to but not easy listening. The tone is light, mellow and uplifting yet it has enough depth to give many surprises." These adjectives all describe Daniel Bennett's music. More ...

Daniel Bennett Group: Clockhead Goes to Camp

Read "Clockhead Goes to Camp" reviewed by Hrayr Attarian

Reedman Daniel Bennett's Clockhead Goes to Camp is a crystallization of the motifs explored in his previous work. The thirteen short tracks--the longest clocking at less than six minutes--are concise, crisp and deceptively simple. The intriguingly surreal ambience results from the mixture of international folk influences and futuristic minimalism.“Last Summer At Camp Creepy" is ...

Clockhead Goes to Camp - Tara Lani Neves Film

Featuring the music of Daniel Bennett
Duration: 11:30

Critically-acclaimed New York saxophonist Daniel Bennett has made waves as both a prolific composer and bandleader, and a very active woodwind doubler in the New York theater scene. Daniel Bennett recently composed and arranged the music for the stage adaptation of "Frankenstein" at the Hudson Guild Theater in Manhattan. The Daniel Bennett Group has recently shared concert billings with artists like Bill Frisell, Charlie Hunter, Greg Osby, James Carter, Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Steve Kuhn, Jerry Bergonzi, and David Fiuczynski. The Village Voice raves, "saxophonist Daniel Bennett makes hay with an airy approach that's buoyant enough to conjure notions of East African guitar riffs and Steve Reich's pastoral repetition." The Boston Herald described Bennett's music as "exploratory folk-jazz hybrid."

Whether considered a member of Generation X or Y, saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist/composer and bandleader Daniel Bennett's career certainly is indicative of how many young artists' careers are ascending with the advent of the internet. But Daniel has a measured cynicism towards balancing live performance with the wonders of tech. Moreover what is also refreshing about this young ...

Daniel Bennett Group: Peace And Stability Among Bears

Read "Peace And Stability Among Bears" reviewed by Jeff Dayton-Johnson

The album art (a bear bedecked in Wild West accouterments) and song titles ("Farmer Joe Was A Bear," “Dogs Of Our Time") of Daniel Bennett Group's Peace & Stability Among Bears promise a good--if cartoonish--time. What's going on in the music, however, is something altogether different. The quartet performance led by reeds player Bennett sounds light ...
