David Dvorin

Born:
Emmy-nominated composer, guitarist, author, and educator, David Dvorin has had his concert music performed in numerous new music and multimedia festivals around the United States and Europe. Versatile in both electronic and acoustic music mediums, he has written for and collaborated with such notable artists as Terry Riley, the California E.A.R. Unit and the Kronos Quartet.
David has released multiple commercial recordings that feature both his compositional work as well as his work as a performer, ranging from the intimate musical interactions of duos, trios and quartets to full-blown orchestrated electronic studio creations. His current projects Pocket and Flounder serve as vehicles for his unique and personal compositional style as well as his melodic and gritty electric guitar playing, combining his deep interest in mid-century electric blues and jazz along with contemporary art music practices. As a creative improviser who enjoys the act of on-the-spot composition, David’s playing can be heard both live and on the studio recordings of the Stinson Trio, as well as the electro-acoustic duo, Zap!. Past performance and recording projects have also included the acoustic chamber-jazz duo, Pull-String with Czech violinist Matej Seda.
