Chick Corea (June 12, 1941 – February 9, 2021) was one of the most influential pianists, composers and bandleaders in the history of jazz. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he continually reinvented himself, moving effortlessly among acoustic jazz, avant-garde improvisation, jazz fusion, Latin jazz, chamber music and classical composition. A 27-time Grammy Award winner, Corea left behind a body of work that has become part of the modern jazz canon, with compositions such as "Spain," "La Fiesta," "500 Miles High," "Windows," "Armando's Rhumba," and "Crystal Silence" now regarded as contemporary standards.
