Mary Halvorson Octet: Away With You
by Troy Dostert
Continuing her streak of outstanding releases, guitarist extraordinaire Mary Halvorson once again shows her determination to build upon her unique style as a composer and bandleader. She's taken her septet from 2013's superb Illusionary Sea and added an eighth member, pedal steel guitarist Susan Alcorn, and the resulting music is typical Halvorson: harmonically complex, emotionally compelling, ...
Nick Millevoi: Desertion
by Vincenzo Roggero
Sarah Bernstein: Still/Free
by Stefano Merighi

Hailing from Philadelphia, guitarist Nick Millevoi possesses a comprehensive music vernacular and has recorded albums with the band Many Arms for John Zorn's Tzadik label amid his collaborations with renowned jazz artists and affiliations with other groups. Indeed, he's an adventure seeker and experimentalist. The guitarist employs top-flight session/solo artists, keyboardist Jamie Saft and drummer Ches ...
by Libero Farnè
Matt Mitchell: Vista Accumulation
by Vincenzo Roggero
Bizingas: Eggs Up High
by Vincenzo Roggero

Winter Jazzfest--ECM Records Stage The New School Tishman Auditorium New York, NY January 15 & 16, 2016 There's a very modern feel at the Tishman Auditorium at The New School University Center, the site for a two-night showcase for ECM Records at the 2016 Winter Jazzfest--with the Escher-esque stairs that ...
