Alvaro Rojas

Alvaro Rojas is a guitarist, composer and educator based in Vancouver B.C. As a guitarist he has been a regular performer with local pop, r’n’b, and free improv artists, as well as leading his own Alvaro Rojas Trio a​nd the dub reggae band B​ig Buck. A​s a composer, Alvaro has had his works performed by many of Canada’s finest new music groups, including the Turning Point Ensemble, Aventa Ensemble and the Microcosmos String Quartet. He has written music for choir, big band, orchestra and various chamber groups, and has scored 15 short films. His passion for many types of music is synthesized in the trio’s recent recording, Gala, which brings a broad range of influences together in the familiar guitar/bass/drums trio setting

Eldad Tarmu

Eldad Tarmu was born and raised in Los Angeles. He originally played drums and percussion before switching to the vibraphone where his mentor was Dave Pike. He spent time in Israel, studied and graduated from Tel Aviv University, and then back in the United States performed and recorded with a range of jazz groups including Freddie Hubbard, Frank Morgan, Poncho Sanchez, and Ernie Watts. Tarmu became a world traveler, performing at festivals and venues in over twenty-five countries while developing his own fresh voice on the vibes. Canadian vocalist Kari van der Kloot presents an exciting new voice on the horizon. Living somewhere in the space between jazz and folk, Kari’s compositions fit seamlessly into a tradition of great Canadian singer-songwriters, such as Joni Mitchell, while still honoring her roots in jazz music.

The current iteration of the Kari van der Kloot Quintet features a stellar cast of New York based musicians, including Canadian violinist Lisanne Tremblay, Canadian pianist Jamie Reynolds, bassist Gary Wang and drummer Nathan Ellman-Bell. The live show keeps the listeners on their toes, from full-on intricately arranged ensemble playing, to four-part vocal harmonies and intimate dialogues between the voice and violin. Currently based in New York and playing at venues such as Rockwood and Cornelia Street Cafe, Kari’s project is exciting new fans with her highly original music. Kari’s debut album “Seedling” was released in 2016, and her new album “The Architects” was released to great acclaim on June 5th, 2020 on Outside In Music’s Next Level imprint.  Kari's 3rd album "Window" will be released on May 3rd, 2024 on TPR Records.

Sarah Jerrom

Sarah Jerrom is a Canadian vocalist, pianist, composer and arranger specializing in jazz and creative music, taking her inspiration from lyric-driven melodies, genre-defying instrumentation and experimental soundscapes. As a bandleader, Sarah has released three critically-acclaimed albums to date: Dream Logic (2021, TPR Records), which showcases a collection of original songs recorded by her contemporary jazz quartet of the same name, The Yeats Project (2017), featuring W.B. Yeats’s poetry set to original music and orchestrated for a nine-piece chamber jazz ensemble, and Illuminations (2007), which encompasses original compositions, jazz-inspired arrangements of contemporary songs and traditional jazz standards. Her new album, “Magpie,” featuring an original ninety-minute suite for large ensemble, is set for release in spring 2024 on TPR Records.

Maureen Choi

Since starting to play violin at age 3, Maureen has won numerous solo competitions and performed with orchestras all over the U.S., Europe and Asia. After graduating from Michigan State University, she went on to study jazz and improvisation at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She has collaborated with top musicians in Detroit, Boston and New York, including Rodney Whitaker, Johnny O'Neal, Larry Harlow, Ed Byrne, Kanye West, DJ Premiere and Josh Groban. Her first jazz album "Maureen Choi Quartet" (2011) was very well received among US radio stations and in publications such as Jazziz Magazine and Jazz Corner, staying in AllAboutJazz.com’s Top 50 for several months
