Cellist Erik Friedlander is a composer and an improviser, afirst-callstudio player and a jazzbo. A veteran of NYC's downtownscene, his 12CDs as a leader recently include, Block Ice & Propane, hissolo celloreinterpretation of American roots music; The Broken ArmTrio, a triotribute to jazz bassist Oscar Pettiford; and Volac, aromanticcollection of virtuoso solo cello pieces by John Zorn. Erikhasperformed on 100's of recordings and soundtracks includingwork withLaurie Anderson, The Mountain Goats, Ennio Morricone, andCourtneyLove.
Friedlander started studying music at an early age,beginning at age 5with folk guitar and then, at age 8, cello lessons. He grewup in ahouse filled with music as his father, an avid music lover,madecountless mix tapes. Erik's desire to actively participatein theswirl of music styles he grew accustom to hearing led him tofind newways to play the cello. His compositions and his improvisingstyleattempt to blend the traditions of classical and popularmusic styleswith an always evolving vision of what a cellist can bepushed toaccomplish.

Greg "Cosmo D" Heffernan is a versatile cellist whose musical passions have led him to work in improvisation, jazz and electronic music. Greg is currently based out of New York City and works as a freelancer, bandleader and touring musician. Greg has recorded several albums with his band, Sauce, and one of his compositions for the band made its Carnegie Hall debut in early 2008. Under the "Cosmo D" alias, Greg performs, alone or with others, combining his use of live laptop manipulation with cello improvisation.
