Sarah Kennedy
Born:
Sarah Kennedy is the kind of performer that brightens the room before the show starts, warms every heart, and keeps listeners spellbound and smirking until the last note has faded. Her repertoire is strongly rooted in straight-ahead jazz, with influences ranging from Sarah Vaughan to Blossom Dearie, but her sound is evolving into an intriguing personal style as she ventures into original composition.
She holds a diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Voice, completed with instructors from both Vancouver Community College and Capilano University, but more recently she completed a Masters in Creative Arts Therapies from Concordia University. So in addition to being a brilliant jazz performer with a penchant for thrilling her audience, Sarah Kennedy is also a Music Therapist on a mission to enhance mental health with music.

Earl MacDonald
Born:
Described as “a magical, musical alchemist of hip hybrids” (Hartford Courant) and “a major force in the world of jazz composition” (Dan Bilawsky, AllAboutJazz.com), MacDonald’s inexhaustible commitment to the jazz art form reveals itself in his performing, composing and teaching. All seven of MacDonald’s albums differ in instrumentation — ranging from a quartet comprised of cello, saxophone, piano & percussion to a full 17-piece jazz big band. This variance speaks to MacDonald’s restless artistic spirit, unquenchable inquisitiveness and his desire to continue stretching himself musically

Bones From Underground
Active since:
The band Bones From Underground first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a cohesive Jazz Band in 2019. But their origin goes back earlier to when the band members made significant steps in the freelancing and teaching music world.
Canadian composer and bassist Marc Beaudin writes jazz from the point of view of nature, urban outcasts and social misfits. Bringing a new improvisational perspective and incisive musicianship to his music are well known Western Canadian gems: Drummer Sandro Dominelli, trumpet/flugelhorn Joel Gray, and pianist Andrew Glover. With a smoky bass tone, lush horn texture, explosive drums and exuberant piano style,
Bones From Underground combines a vintage sound with modern material to thrilling effect.
