Marcos Valle: Braziliance!

Read "Braziliance!" reviewed by Chris May

First released in 1966 on Warner Bros., Marcos Valle's third album was his debut US release. An instrumental set, it is packed (if a 29-minute album can be so described) of great tunes composed by Valle with his brother Paulo. Like Antonio Carlos Jobim's own-name US debut, The Composer Of Desafinado Plays (Verve, 1963), another instrumental ...

Kyoko Katsunuma + Jun Miyake: Colomena

Read "Colomena" reviewed by Friedrich Kunzmann

From collaborating with the likes of Arto Lindsay (Ambitious Lovers), Caetano Veloso or Ichiko Aoba, through contributing to the Wim Wenders' 2011 Piana Bausch documentary soundtrack or providing the score to Joseph Ceder's 2016 feature film Norman, to even composing the music for Mercedes-Benz commercials, Japanese composer/trumpeter Jun Miyake's creativity seems inexhaustible. After compiling and producing ...

Michael Leonhart: Suite Extracts Vol. 1

Read "Suite Extracts Vol. 1" reviewed by Angelo Leonardi

Welsh pianist and composer, Huw Warren, has been an important voice on the British jazz scene for many years. He ...

Stefano Bollani: Que Bom

Read "Que Bom" reviewed by Matt Hooke

The worlds of Italian and Brazilian music meet on Que Bom, pianist Stefano Bollani's masterful 43rd album. Bollani lets his songwriting do the brunt of the work, leading to an accessible project, that still shimmers with inventive moments. Bollani has a keen melodic sense that makes these songs immediately come alive. The opening song, “Sbucata da ...

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
