Vardan Ovsepian

Vardan Ovsepian is an Armenia-born pianist/composer and a Fresh Sound New Talent recording artist. Born in 1975, Vardan started playing piano at the age of five. After completing his basic piano training, he went on to study at the Melikyan Music College, majoring in Music Theory, and in 1992, entered the Yerevan State Conservatory majoring in Classical Composition. Inspired by the music of Chopin, Liszt, Bach and solo piano works of Keith Jarrett, Vardan strived to compose and perform solo piano music. In 1994, he was presented an opportunity to focus on his piano work when he was accepted to the Estonian Music Academy to study Contemporary Composition. In 1995, following his strong interest and passion for jazz and improvised music Vardan moved to Finland, to attend the Helsinki Jazz Conservatory

Monica Yngvesson

Monica Yngvesson is a jazz vocalist and a native of northern Sweden. Monica has performed as a soloist and with groups in festivals, concerts and churches in Northern Europe. In 1998, her musical interests took her to Boston to study jazz performance at Berklee College of Music. Her unique tone and improvisational style have made her a much sought-after vocalist, notably with the Vardan Ovsepian Quartet on their Fresh Sound recordings. Her voice serves to enhance the instrumental range of a group in the role of a string or woodwind. She has inspired composers, such as Vardan Ovsepian, Kaori Tanioka, and Andrew Kim, to write especially for her. As a performer, Monica has appeared at many venues in the Northeast, including jazz clubs such as The Regattabar in Cambridge, MA, and in concerts at the Center for Cultural Exchange in Portland, ME, and the Natick Center for the Arts, MA, among others

Patricia Adams

Patricia Adams, bandleader and vocalist, shuttles her renditions of standards from renaissance Harlem and Tin Pan Alley between Manhattan, Westchester, Hartford and Boston. Stepping onto a nightclub stage for the first time in 1992 at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston, Adams segued to designated show opener there for the Frank Wilkins Vocal Showcase until 1996. Many open mics and pro bono gigs later, she traded her thirty-five year career in human resources management for life as a full time artist. Her venues now attract those who enjoy the jazz and blues standards of the 1930's and '40's. Her mailing list has grown from family and friends to thousands. She plays with some of the world's renowned jazz artists, including Ray Santisi, Marshall Wood, Bob Moses, Joe Hunt, Bill Wurtzel, John Repucci, Frank Wilkins, Fred Hunter, Ross Schneider, Joe Lovano, Stanley C. Swann, III and the late Jimmy Hill, so far. Adams plays to the continuing demand of a growing 'seniors' market. Her one-woman-shows, singing live vocals to soundtracks make the rounds of area residences and facilities. Adams brings her 35 years' corporate experience to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with her leadership skills workshop for the entrepreneurial musician, Bandleader Toolkit© in collaboration with her music director, Berklee Professor Ray Santisi. Earning BS and MBA degrees in the 1960's, Adams studied music theory, harmony, and improvisation at the New England Conservatory in Boston and at the Performing Arts School of Worcester in the 1990's. She has studied with Semenya McCord, Dominique Eade and Frank Wilkins in Boston and with Jim Carson, Jeannie Lovetri of Voice Workshop, Sheila Jordan and Kirk Nurock in Manhattan. A voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Adams also served on the board of the New England Conservatory. In the 1990’s Turk performed and collaborated with great Boston players such as Gray Sargent and Marshall Wood (both presently with Tony Bennett) and had the great honor to play with Dave McKenna from time to time. Other somewhat unsung, top-notch Boston players include Jeff Stout, Dick Johnson, Jon Wheatley, Lou Columbo, Ray Santisi, Paul Schmelling, Paul Broadnax, John Lockwood, Bob Guilloti, the great jazz drummers Joe Hunt and also Alan Dawson…..many more great players not mentioned here!
In Recent years, Turk had the great pleasure of sharing the Scullers Jazz Club concert stage with jazz vocalist Rebecca Parris and her band consisting of Brad Hatfield, Peter Kontrimus and Jim Lattini.
