Justin Schornstein

Justin Schornstein is a bassist and composer living in Boston, MA. Justin graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music, with Degrees in Performance and Film Scoring and minors in Orchestral Conducting and Video Game Scoring. As an artist, Justin is interested in advancing the role of the bassist as a composer and producer. His current work attempts to reconcile technology and organic music, in the form of his upcoming solo record and quartet record. Leonardo Lucini

Born in Rio de Janeiro and currently living near Washington, DC, bassist Leonardo Lucini has been bringing the sounds of Brazilian jazz to American audiences for over a decade. Lucini is a virtuoso performer on electric and acoustic bass. Trained in both classical and jazz styles, he holds a master’s degree in music performance from University of Maryland. He is knowledgeable about many world music styles, including a vast range of Latin music. His own compositions are often based on unique Brazilian rhythmic styles, going far beyond the expected samba and bossa nova to Maracatu and Afoxe

Dwight Mabe

Born: July 10, 1956

My college major was double bass. My teacher was a lady named Lynn Peters, a veteran of the Detroit and Milwaulkee symphony orchestras, as well as the bass teacher at the North Carolina School of the Arts (now known as the UNC School of the Arts) and UNC-Greensboro, where I earned Batchelor of Music, Performance and Batchelor of Music Education degrees. Lynn had an amazing amount of knowledge of the physiology of playing the double bass. I was privilged to share a stand with her in two different local symphonies. Much of the physiology of the MaxTone method is a result of what I learned from her. I was fortunate to be able to perform with several major jazz artists during this time period, mostly due to the connections of UNCG jazz ensemble director Ray Gariglio

Kaveh Rastegar

Kaveh Rastegar is a Grammy nominated Electric and Upright bassist. In the years since moving to Los Angeles, California from Rochester New York where he graduated from the Eastman School of Music, Kaveh has enjoyed success playing, writing and recording music for a wide array of artists, projects and films. Kaveh is a founding member of the Grammy Nominated Jazz quintet Kneebody. Kneebody has toured the world and recorded a number of albums. Most recently they have signed to Concord records and have toured Australia, Japan, Europe and the States in support of their new album “The Line”

Ken Seeley

Born: February 23, 1965

Ken is currently active in the Ottawa-Hull Canada region as a free-lance electric bass player and teacher. He has been a professional musician for well over thirty years, and a music educator for over 15 years. Ken has developed a deep-pocketed groove in his bass playing that took shape within a formal education in jazz, funk, rock, aftro-cuban, brazilian, and other odd-meter styles, but probably started when he first picked up the bass at the age of 13.
