Eagles

Active since:

The band formed in 1971 when Linda Ronstadt's then-manager, John Boylan, extracted Frey, Leadon, and Meisner from their affiliations. They were short a drummer until Frey phoned Henley, whom he had met at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The band backed up Ronstadt on a two-month tour, then decided to form their own band, The Eagles. Their first album, The Eagles, was filled with pure, sometimes innocent country rock; their second, Desperado, was themed on Old West outlaws and introduced the group's penchant for conceptual songwriting. To record their third album, On the Border, the group selected producer Glyn Johns, who previously worked with Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who

Tunnel Six

Tunnel Six is a sextet comprised of some of the most notable up and coming jazz musicians from the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. and from Eastern Canada. The group was formed when its members were attending the International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. Though the band was formed by a chance meeting, the strong musical chemistry between the band members was immediately evident from the first notes they played. Within the span of the three- week workshop, the band members felt as though they had already been playing together for years. They play original compositions by all the band members and hope to connect to their audiences through the strong and intuitive storytelling elements of their improvisations

Dip Theory

Dip Theory is and ever evolving project from Joey Johnson, Noah Wheeler, and Danny Sher. The music is kind of ambient kind of groovy and kind of cool, somewhere between a really bad beat down and a really good massage. So far there is a sax, a bass, some drums, a computer, some synth action, and a toy glockenspielesque type of deal. What the future holds, we do not know.

Montclair Women's Big Band

A decade is an eternity in the life of a jazz orchestra, but it’s not mere longevity that makes the Montclair Women’s Big Band 10th anniversary such a notable occasion. The Bay Area ensemble has set an enviable standard by every measure, serving as a potent rebuke to a scene that still often marginalizes female players. With a vivid cast of musical personalities, the MWBB combines an audacious sense of swing, tight ensemble work, and inspired solos. Led by veteran trumpeter Ellen Seeling (and assistant director, saxophonist Jean Fineberg), the group has become a magnet for ambitious women musicians, most of whom also lead their own bands
