Tunnel Six

Tunnel Six is a sextet comprised of some of the most notable upand coming jazz musicians from the Pacific Northwest of theU.S. and from Eastern Canada. The group was formed when itsmembers were attending the International Workshop in Jazz andCreative Music at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. Thoughthe band was formed by a chance meeting, the strong musicalchemistry between the band members was immediately evidentfrom the first notes they played. Within the span of the three-week workshop, the band members felt as though they hadalready been playing together for years. They play originalcompositions by all the band members and hope to connect totheir audiences through the strong and intuitive storytellingelements of their improvisations. They are currently planning anextensive tour of Canada, the midwest U.S., and the PacificNorthwest for 2010, which will culminate in the recording of theirdebut full-length album in Portland, OR.

The formation of the American/Canadian sextet Tunnel Six wasn't planned. The six musicians met up at the 2009 International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at the Banff Center in Alberta, Canada, and discovered rare group chemistry after having played together there.
