Freight

A new jazz quartet from Bristol, England, playing original compositions drawing heavily from Thelonious Monk inspiration, and the fiery post-modern aptitude of John Coltrane. Pianist Martin Jenkins, the composer of Freight's original material, is teamed up with the heavy tenor and soprano sax playing of Craig Crofton, the dynamic drumming of Richard Laws, and the rhythmical assured upright-bass playing of Greg Cordez. They have just launched their newly completed album.

Millenium jazz Orchestra

The Millennium Jazz Orchestra is a pure jazz orchestra with professional Dutch musicians. Since 1990 the band plays every first Wednesday of the month in theatre De Bouwkunde in Deventer, Holland, and every month with a nationally or internationally famous guest soloist like Toots Thielemans, Dick Oatts, Kenny Wheeler, Ronnie Cuber, Claudio Roditi, Lew Tabackin, Jiggs Whigham, Frank Marocco, Bobby Shew, New York Voices, Jasper van ’t Hof, Herb Geller, Lee Konitz, Ernie Watts, Charlie Mariano, Harold Land, The Four Freshmen, Bob Malach, Bud Shank, Pete Christlieb, Philip Catherine.... In 1992 the band presented its first CD, ‘Some Frames of Mind’, which was declared the best CD of the month in December 1992 by ‘Jazz Nu’, a Dutch jazz magazine

Acid Birds

Acid Birds was formed in 2004 in Brooklyn, NY by Andrew Barker (drums & percussion), Jaime Fennelly (harmonium + electronics) and Charles Waters (alto saxophone & bass clarinet). NY-based Barker & Waters are both founding members of Gold Sparkle Band, and Chicago-resident Fennelly, is 1/3 of Peeesseye and performs solo as Mind Over Mirrors. Their first self-titled LP came out on the Italian label QBICO in 2009. Their second LP, Acid Birds II, was released in February 2011 on Sagittarius A-Star, and Electric Temple Records released their first cassette, entitled Mock Load, to coincide with their Midwest / East Coast Winter 2011 tour. Their new studio album entitled "III" which was recorded at famed Brooklyn studio, Seizure's Palace, was released on Blackest Rainbow Records in August 2011 in an edition of 500 vinyl records, and features original artwork by Jacob Magraw & Rachell Sumpter. Andrew Barker has worked with Gold Sparkle Band, Sirone of the Revolutionary Ensemble, Daniel Carter, Roy Campbell's TAZ, Rob Brown, Chris Jonas, Sonny Simmons, Sabir Mateen, Virginia Genta, and many others.He has appeared on several recordings, including Apostolic Polyphony (with Matthew Shipp and Charles Waters) and The Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra's Mayor of Punkville

Spyn Reset is a fresh and unique instrumental band from Seattle, Washington. When six unique musicians are put together, the sounds are definitely ahead of their time. Not only do they have many variation of tastes but succeeded to combine different kinds of styles including Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop, Dance, Pop, and Experimental. Their debut album 'Objects In The Abstract' has 12 tracks on both CD and Vinyl. Spyn Reset recorded the album summer of 2009 at London Bridge Studio where well-known bands such as: Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, and Alice in Chains recorded their albums. This album also has a special guest on one of the songs 'Starry Triangle', a great Jazz Trombonist, Julian Priester who has recorded and performed with many legendary jazz musicians such as: John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Sun Ra, Art Blakey, and Max Roach. Spyn Reset was formed as the Sextet and had a first gig on February in 2009

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, commonly known as El Gran Combo, is a Puerto Rican Salsa music orchestra. It is Puerto Rico's most successful musical group, and one of Salsa's most famous recording and performing artists across Latin America. Since many of the genre's legendary singers have been members of the orchestra, the band has been given the moniker La Universidad de la Salsa (The University of Salsa). El Gran Combo was founded by Rafael Ithier in May of 1962. Ithier is still, in 2010, the orchestra's pianist and musical director. Rafael Ithier had been a member of Rafael Cortijo's "Combo" orchestra, travelling to the eastern United States before forming El Gran Combo

This foursome stretches their biological connections through to their creative tissue as the Dysfunctional Family Jazz Band (DFJB), an incomparable collective with a Jazz/Americana/Soul/Folk sound that, by all reasonable accounts, functions quite nicely, thank you. As the history of their marvelous and complex family relationships comes out in their music, it is clear that this is a community, a truly relational organism. The way they work, the way they live, and the way they make music is an expression of family, through and through. The high-functioning dysfunction began when Patty Carpenter and Scotty Shetler were high school sweethearts a billion years ago, and, in 1972, had a daughter, Melissa Shetler. Brainkiller
